During the Jags/Vikings game today, the Jags were flagged twice on defense on the same play. One call was illegal contact. The other call was defensive holding. The holding call was declined and the illegal contact call was accepted.

The question? Illegal contact is a five yarder with an automatic first down. Holding is a ten yarder with an automatic first down. Why was the illegal contact penalty accepted? Because it happened before the pass?

They are both 5 yard penalties on the D. Holding is 10 yards on the offense.

You're right. Don't know why I was thinking it was ten yards. It's been that kind of day... *sigh*
