That would take the heart out of the game, your not playing for money, your playing so you could win. I bet if you ask any NBA player (who played college) when they had the most fun playing basketball they will say college.

Absolutly not they shouldnt they are providing many times a free education for these players and becuase of that they may be making money from the players now but alot will go into the nba and make more money then they ever dreamed of why? Because they got that call or letter from a college wanting that player on there team.

College is like a show case for these players to show there talents and get an education in the mean time. If not for college half of these players would not be in the league guys that come from small cities were no nba scout ever thought there would be talent in they would never get a shot at the nba without college.

Also in college players get so many free stuff like shoes and uniforms and trips to different states and places. They get so much more then the colleges do in the long run so there is no reason for them to pay the players if it was like that the colleges with the most money would get all the players and there would be a lack of talent in the nba because players would say why leave a place were Im getting payed also they would get involved with the wrong stuff like drugs and stuff.

How much money does the NCAA make off these players during March Madness? You mean to tell me they don't get their cut? That doesn't seem fair to me.

As for education being a priority over basketball? Come on now. Let's be realistic here. A lot of the guys playing college ball have NO place in a post-secondary institution. Some schools even offer free day care for atheletes' children. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does. I don't think our society is ready to be that brutally honest though--that college players aren't really at school for the education. Just like when Bird said basketball was "a black man's game". People can't handle it.

I think they should be paid. Give them the credit they deserve.

Well in my state, colleges are having enough struggles with their budgets without tripping out the tuition costs. I don't know if I want to pay more for my education just so some guy I don't give a damn about will be inclined to stay at my school.

On the other hand, I don't think it's fair for an undergrad library receptionist to make $12/hour just to sit there and do the homework she couldn't do the night before because she was getting drunk, and a genuine student-athlete not getting jack for putting in however many hours a week into his team and not be able to have that time for his studies. I know from experience that not working during the quarter makes a big impact on my grades.
