<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Mark Bartelstein, agent to Celtics center Mark Blount, told the Boston Globe that his client would exercise the player option on his contract this week and become a free agent. "He's already notified that he intends to exercise the option," Bartelstein said. "We'll do it before the end of the week." Blount averaged 10.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 2003-04. "It's the right move for Mark Blount," executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge noted. Blount will get a lot of calls from Eastern Conference squads, <u>starting with the Miami Heat, who need help in the middle,</u> and the Philadelphia 76ers, where former Celtics head coach Jim O'Brien now resides. Mark was very critical of the Celtics this season, but he appeared to like the Doc Rivers signing and could be wooed back to Boston. Depending on where he ends up, Blount could be a very serviceable fantasy center in 2004-05, especially in leagues that score for seven or more categories.</div> http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=fanb...nball&type=lgns Now it's up to Randy and Pat...
Yea, Pat and Randy do your stuff, and work your magic, Blount would be a good addition, 7'0 guy that can bang, block some shots, and that's about 12 points and 9 rebounds a game right there.
lol yea I know about the rock hands he's supposed to have, but they can't be as bad as Antonio Davis' (Raptors experience), and he's 7'0, can block some shots, hit that hook, and get some boards, as long as he's physical he's an improvement over every single Miami center on the roster.
Truthfully, I'll miss him for the Celtics. I don't think this is too great a move, he's improved his game and proven useful a lot of the time. Plus he could've possibly, if he improved, by this I mean a lot more, he could've been another option in order to help out Pierce. I think this could be a mistake, he was just starting to come along. I'd resign him if I were you guys, especially since LaFrentz is so injury prone. If you're so eager to get rid of him, try and go after Foster in the Pacers or Dampier of the Warriors.
