Their has been a list let out by the Charlotte Observer with confirmed players to be available in the Expansion draft, their might be some surprises.

Highlights, I'm not going to post every team:

Quote:

CHICAGO: Antonio Davis, C-F, 6-9, 35; Ronald Dupree*, F, 6-7, 23; Marcus Fizer*, F, 6-8, 25; Scottie Pippen, F-G, 6-8, 38; Eddie Robinson, F, 6-9, 28; Jerome Williams, F-C, 6-9, 31.

If Marcus Fizer is chosen he will become an unrestricted FA making him open market for any team but the Bulls to pursue him.

Quote:

INDIANA: Jamison Brewer*, G, 6-4 23; Primoz Brezec, C, 7-1, 24; Austin Croshere, F, 6-9, 28; Anthony Johnson, G, 6-3, 29; James Jones, G, 6-4, 25; Scot Pollard F-C, 6-11, 29.

Brewer could be a decent pickup for the Bobcats, but they can only make him unrestricted then hunt him down in the market. James Jones could also be a pretty decent pick, both young guys.

Quote:

L.A. CLIPPERS: Matt Barnes*, F, 6-7, 24; Keyon Dooling* G, 6-3, 24; Predrag Drobnjak, C, 6-11, 28; Eddie House, G, 6-1, 26; Josh Moore*, C, 7-2, 23.

I didn't know Matt Barnes was a restricted FA, but I really like him and wouldn't want him to go, the Bobcats could make him unretainable by the Clips if they select him.
Keyon Dooling, me an many other Clipper fans are saying good ridance, he needs to go somewhere else but he's not going to do anything in LA. He's a restricted FA so if the Bobcats select him he just become open market to all but the Clippers.

Quote:

MEMPHIS: Troy Bell, G, 6-1, 23; Ryan Humphrey, F, 6-8, 24; Dahntay Jones, G-F, 6-6, 23; Bo Outlaw, F, 6-8, 23; Theron Smith, F, 6-8, 23; Jake Tsakalidis*, C, 7-2, 25; Lorenzen Wright, C, 6-11, 28.

A surprise to me here with Troy Bell being left open, I actually had Dahntay Jones going to the Bobcats in my mock expansion drafts so that's no surprise. I think he would be a good pickup.

Quote:

NEW YORK: Shandon Anderson, G-F, 6-6, 30; Penny Hardaway, G-F, 6-7, 32; Allan Houston, G, 6-6, 33; Moochie Norris, G, 6-2, 30; Cezary Trybanski C, 7-2, 24.

Haha, New York is really hoping high with these 2 guys. [IMG]

Quote:

ORLANDO: Reece Gaines, G, 6-4, 25, Britton Johnsen*, F, 6-10, 24; Zaza Pachulia, C, 6-11, 20; DeShawn Stevenson*, G, 6-5, 25.

Orlando is leaving some decent talent available in those three, hmm Gaines, Johnson or Stevenson? I think Stevenson has gotten a one way ticket out or Orlando, he might not go to the Bobs, but he's likely not going to be back in Orlando. The Bobcats could also play it safe and pick Gaines because then he goes directly to their team instead of them having to try to sign him in the market like with Stevenson and Johnsen.

Quote:

SEATTLE: Calvin Booth, C, 6-11, 28; Jerome James, C, 7-1, 28; Richie Frahm*, G, 6-5, 26; Vitaly Potapenko C-F, 6-10, 29.

Not a bad pickup if they can get him in the market, I was hoping the Raptors could get him in free agency which is still possible, but good shooter, good defender, and still fairly young, the Bobcats picking him would just make him an unrestricted FA though.

Quote:

WASHINGTON: Lonny Baxter*, F, 6-8, 25; Juan Dixon, G, 6-3, 25; Christian Laettner, F-C, 6-11, 34; Jerry Stackhouse, G-F, 6-6, 29.

Well this was the list I expected, and as much as I want to see Stack gone, I see it more likely to be Juan Dixon getting swiped.

    * means Restricted FA

Expansion List You have to resgister.

I'm hoping they don't go with Stevenson and go with Gaines, because then they'd be less likely to pick Troy Bell. Imagine a roster with Shaun Livingston, Troy Bell, and Reece Gaines. That would be one loaded lineup at point guard. I was intruiged by Qyntel Woods. Do you they'd take him?

Wow, I actually neglected the fact that Qyntel Woods was there, guess I didn't see him, but definately, it just makes sense.
They'll be loaded at PG already even without Bell, so they aren't taking Dickau or Cook, and the other guys aren't nearly as appealing as Woods, their's a very large chance he will be taken.

Does anyone think that the Bobcats will select anyone along the lines of a Jerry Stackhouse... I am thinking they will take somekind of experianced player or a little higher salaried player. No one like Houston or Penny..

Stevenson is there for the taking. Orlando was pretty smart there, he has big upside.

And here brings a question. Who are the Lakers and Pistons going to leave unprotected? The Lakers could very well leave someone out there for the Bobcats to pick up.

They can only pick one player from each team.

He said that because you had a typo before.

Possible players that Charlotte will take:

    Atlanta: None
    Boston: Brandon Hunter
    Chicago: Make Fizer unrestricted
Cleveland: Make Ruben Boumtje Boumtje unrestricted or take Kapono
Denver: Make Trepagnier unrestircted, why not
Indiana: Jamison Brewer or James Jones
    Clippers: Make Dooling unrestricted
Memphis: I'm thinking Dahntay Jones, but Troy Bell is very possible
Miami: Make Loren Woods unrestricted, why not try to get a center at least
New Jersey: Make Tamar Slay unrestricted
New Orleans: Making Courtney Alexander unrestricted could be a possibility
Orlando: I'd go with just getting Reece Gaines, but making Stevenson unrestricted could happen too.
    Philly: Greg Buckner?
    Portland: Qyntel Woods
Sacramento: Gerald Wallace (they shouldn't even think before they do this)
    Toronto:???????????
    Utah: Pavlovic wouldn't be bad
    Washington: Stackhouse? or Juan Dixon

Lineup: (Draft pick Shaun Livingston, Childress or Iguodala)

    PG: Reece Gaines (1,212,200)
    SG: Dahntay Jones (1,143,360)
    SF: Stackhouse (7 million)
    PF: Brandon Hunter (620,046)
    C: ???????
    Others:
    Gerald Wallace (1,377,045)
    Qyntel Woods (1,172,160)
    Greg Buckner (2,880,000)

    Total: 15,404,811 million

Now approximating that their cap is 30 million, then they have 14,595,189 left, about 2.9 million goes to their draft pick, so they have 11,695,189 for 4 more roster spots to make them have 12 players, that's pretty good. One more spot will be taken by their second round draft pick.

    Guys they'll let go:
James Jones I don't know man, too many SF's
Pavlovic still too many SF's, but you never know.

All other players will just be made unrestricted FA's.
Unrestricted guys to look at: Marcus Fizer, Ruben Boumtje Boumtje, Loren Woods, Tamar Slay, Courtney Alexander

Also to explain, Brian Skinner will opt out of his contract before the expansion draft, therefore he will not be eligible to be drafted by the Bobcats.

Don't be suprised if the Bobcats look past the Magic's 2 pg/sg's in Stevenson and Gaines and pick the young big man Zaza Pachilia. He is a hustle player(similar to Declerq, but much more skills) He showed that he could be a solid double double guy with playing time. He's also young. I wish the Magic protected him or hopefully the Bobcats look past him, so that we can keep him. We were dumb not playing him much last year. He will be a solid role player for a ball club.

Charlotte Mock Expansion Draft, by Me

Charlotte has to take a minimum of 14 players, and can take a maximum of 29 players, they can waive the contracts of players they draft in the expansion draft as they will. If they draft restricted free agents it makes the player become unrestricted and unable to sign with their previous team. The draft begins.

    Boston: Brandon Hunter 6'7 PF
    Chicago: Marcus Fizer 6'8 PF
    Cleveland: Kapono 6'8 F-G
    Denver: Trepagnier 6'4 G
    Houston: Adrian Griffin 6'5 G-F
Indiana: James Jones 6'8 F or Primo Brezec 7'1 F-C
LA Clippers: Eddie House 6'1 G or Predrag Drobnjak 6'11 C-F
Memphis: Dahntay Jones 6'6 G-F or Troy Bell 6'1 G
    Miami: Loren Woods 7'2 C
New Jersey: Tamar Slay 6'8 G
New Orleans: Courtney Alexander 6'5 G
    Orlando: Reece Gaines 6'4 G
    Portland: Qyntel Woods 6'8 G-F
    Sacramento: Gerald Wallace 6'7 F
    Seattle: Richie Frahm 6'5 G
    Utah: Sasha Pavlovic 6'7 F-G
    Washigton: Stackhouse 6'6 G-F or Juan Dixon 6'3 G

These are the players I feel are their choices.
Their's no harm in drafting some players just to give them choices, and then they can waive their contracts later. Now the picks.

Brandon Hunter 6'7 F - This guy I'll say can do what Malik Rose would for them, and his contract will not labour them or stick with them for a long time. $620,046

Marcus Fizer 6'8 F - They'll make him an Unrestricted FA and then try to sign him in the market.

Kapono 6'8 G-F - I can also see them making Rubeun Boumtje Boumtje an unrestricted FA, but for now I'll go with this pick. $366,931

Trepagnier 6'4 G - Ill expect them to make him an Unrestricted FA, and they might not go after him because this draft is filled with Guards, and a 6'4 SG isn't the most appealing thing.

Primo Brezec 7'1 F-C - Now this one was hard, but the draft is filled with SF's, and their aren't too many big men, so it's of no harm to take him with his small contract. $1,554,326

Predrag Drobnjak 6'11 C-F - This was also a tough one because Drobnjak is 29 and making 2.8 million, but with the high amount of guards they don't need to take Eddie House or make Barnes or Dooling unrestricted especially since they could likely get Barnes or Dooling in the market anyways.
    $2,812,500

Troy Bell 6'1 G - Now this one troubled me also, I think their's just as high a chance of them taking Jones as their is for Bell, but I'm leaning more to Bell at the moment. $1,381,920

Loren Woods 7'2 C - Loren is limited skill wise, but he's 7'2, and a Center, and they can make him and Unrestricted FA and maybe go for him in the market.

Tamar Slay 6'8 G -Their's been a lot of talk about Charlotte pursuing him, and I find base in it, they'll make him and Unrestricted FA, and look to sign him.

Reece Gaines 6'4 G - Stevenson and Zaza are possiblities, but he won't be easy to acquire in the market, getting Gaines would give them a player right away without them having to pursue him. $1,212,200

Qyntel Woods 6'8 G-F -Another Swingman, but that's what this draft is full of, Guards and Swingmen with potential, Charlotte will take him and work on him. $1,172,160

Gerald Wallace 6'7 F - This name surprised a lot of people and it should, this could be the chance Wallace has needed his whole career.
    $1,377,045

Richie Frahm 6'5 G - Taking him will make him an Unrestricted FA, and I've wanted the Raptors to also look into him. Good defender, and can shoot the rock, not a bad addition to a team.

Sasha Pavlovic 6'7 F-G - Just like Gerald Wallace, Sasha is a must have, the Jazz's first round pick being unprotected? Weak defense, but has offensive skills and will definately improve, would be a great pick. $1,191,000

Jerry Stackhouse 6'6 G-F - Last but not least, another swingman, this one is very questionalbe, Stackhouse is not making too much, he has a 7 million dollar contract, it goes till 2006/2007, and is 7.5 million in 2006, and 8 million in 2007. He could be used to induce a trade, and their always the possiblity of waiving his contract, but if they need a scorer he would be good.
    7,000,000

That's 15 players taken, one over the minimum.

    Contracts Total: $18,688,128

This leaves them, with about 11,311,872 for FA's, and their draft pick will make about 2.9 million leaving them with about 8,411,872 for free agents and their second round pick.

    Depth Chart:
    Point Guards (2)- Gaines, Bell
Shooting Guards (2) - Qyntel Woods, Jerry Stackhouse
Small Forwards (3) - Kapono, Gerald Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic
Power Forwards (2) - Brandon Hunter, Primo Brezec
    Centers (1) - Predrag Drobnjak

Total 10 players on their roster from the expansion draft, so to fill a 12 man roster they need two more players and their draft pick will fill one.
Then they have about 8,411,872 for maximum 4 more free agents (for a 15 man roster), and if they keep their second round draft pick, 3 more free agents, so about 3 million on 2 FA's, and 1 million on another.

They might possible waive the contracts of these players: Brezec and Kapono to get other players from the market because they have Gerald and Sasha at the 3, and Tamar Slay and Qyntel Woods can also backup the 3 in addition to the 2. Brezec is less likely but Marcus Fizer seems like a big possibilty for them to pickup from the FA market.

I agree. Gaines bombed in Orlando and Zaza is the best young center available in the expansion draft. Of course, that's not saying a lot... But he certainly has upside, and with that price (1 year, $620,000), I say it's very likely the Bobcats take him.

    Detroit Pistons: Elden Campbell, C

The Pistons were actually debating whether to leave Campbell or Corliss Williamson unprotected. But I guess they realized the Bobcats are more likely to take Campbell because of Williamson's bigger contract.

Los Angeles Lakers: Derek Fisher, PG; Rick Fox, SF; Jamal Sampson, C

This is a projected list... Other possibilities are Devean George and Brian Cook. However, Sampson is most likely left unprotected and he is also most likely who the Bobcats would select from the Lakers.

We are leaving Alvin, Milt and Lammond, they didn't have Toronto because at the time no one was sure about Toronto's playrs, but the Bobcats won't want any of them, maybe Milt because it expires and is small, but Milt is garbage.

It looks like it's going to have a relatively weak draft for the bobcats. I'm disappointed in them. they should try to mix it up a little bit instead of playing safe. Antoine Walker is not a crappy player, neither is Eddie Jones. overpriced troo.. but getting any player of their caliber is going to need them to overpay a little. I hope the Bobcats don't become the clippers of the east.

    Expansion Draft Rumors

    ESPN Insider

Quote:

The Bobcats are hoping Emeka Okafor falls to them at No. 2. There's talk Charlotte and Orlando might work out a deal in which the Magic agree to not take Okafor at No. 1, leaving him to the Bobcats, in exchange for an as-yet undisclosed favor from Charlotte.

Look for the Bobcats to select Jahidi White in return for a future Suns first-rounder and $3 million in cash. The move clears an extra $6.1 million in cap room for the Suns. The Bobcats will likely either waive or trade White.

The Knicks, Spurs and Bobcats were discussing a deal late Monday that would have the Bobcats selecting Malik Rose off the unprotected list. Here's how it would work if the three teams make a deal: The Spurs, who are trying to clear up cap space to make some noise in the free-agent market, would send the Bobcats $3 million and their first-round pick (No. 28) in return for Charlotte selecting Rose. The Bobcats would then ship Rose to the Knicks for Dikembe Mutombo, who is in the last year of his contract, and the Knicks' second-round pick. Mutombo would end up costing the Bobcats a little more than $1 million once you factor in the Spurs' cash payment.

There's also talk the Bobcats will select the Jazz's Aleksandar Pavlovic with an eye toward moving him to another team. The Bobcats are looking for a future first-rounder and cash to facilitate the deal.

The Bobcats are also actively looking to acquire another late-lottery to mid-first-round pick. Their target is point Jameer Nelson, another seasoned college veteran whom Bickerstaff loves.
