In the official list of every unprotected player in the league in the upcoming Charlotte Bobcats expansion draft which can be viewed by clicking HERE, the Miami HEAT players which have been left unprotected are Brian Grant, Eddie Jones, and Loren Woods. I truly hope that the Bobcats take Brian or Eddie, but I just have a feeling they'll take Loren Woods because he would be a restricted free agent and if they draft him it means he becomes an unrestricted free agent and his contract will not count against the Bobcats salary cap.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Yup I think they'll take Loren Woods too, it's the smart thing to do.</div> What's his game like og? I am grateful, so grateful that Grant is finally leaving. He's good and he works hard, but he'd do better elsewhere, we need someone more dominant if we're to succeed. We need our own Shaq if you will. As for Jones leaving, I'll miss his scoring and he did use to be a good defender, but that was a long time ago, this could be the start of something new, Odom and Wade are going to become our main guys. So I'm happy for that, I wish them luck and that they do well and prove useful for whatever teams they end up on, they'll be missed for they did good for us.
Charlotte will not take Grant or Jones, they have clearly stated they only want younger guys with decent contracts. Don't expect them to draft any player who has huge amount of money left on their deals. Woods are the Bobcats only option.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">What's his game like og?</div> Loren Woods has no game, he is a total bust. He has not spent one legitimate minute on an NBA court this season, only time he ever takes off his tearaway pants and warmup jacket is if the Heat are blowing out the other team by 20+ points and there is 1 minute remaining in the 4th quarter. The guy is just rotting away at the end of the bench, he's got a bad attitude, terrible work ethic, and contributes absolutely nothing to the team. He's a scrawny 7 footer and his situation is very similar to Shawn Bradley's. Everyone thought he was going to be a superstar and one of the best big men in the league when he came out of college, however he never worked on his game and never bulked up. Loren Woods is a walking turnover, anytime he so much as steps onto the floor you can just see how uncomfortable he is, he has some of the WORST hands in the league and can't even catch a basic pass unless you gently toss it to him from 2 feet away. His handle is so terrible that he cannot even post up and back down a defender because he'll lose control of the ball. Why this guy is still in the NBA is beyond me, mabye Riles thinks he has potential, but either way Loren Woods like many other career bench warmers will never reach their full potential and really could have been something special if the NBA had a real minor league farm system rather than the joke called the NBDL. The Bobcats most likely will not choose Brian or Eddie, but this is still a WIN WIN situation for the Heat because we will be getting rid of Loren Woods one way or another.
Exactly lol, Woods is going, Charlotte will likely not keep him on their roster, but he'll be gone off the Heat's.
Why would they leave Grant on that list he gives them toughness inside and he is the only one would play center for them I'm not surprised Jones is on the list he is to old and then they can draft a point in the draft and move Wade to his real positon at SG

And also because the Bobcats aren't going to take a 6'9 PFwho has a 13 million dollar contract on their team when he's not even a top player at his position.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Because he is an underachieving and ridiculously overpriced player that should have been replaced a long time ago.</div> No one should have ever given Grant that contract in the first place. It's not hard to see what the guy brings to the table. Average(maybe above average) defense and above average rebounding. If it weren't for his ridiculous contract, no one would even talk about the guy. I can't believe they left Eddie Jones unprotected though.
Well they know EJ isn't going to get taken either, and he also shouldn't have a 13.4 million dollar contract.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't believe they left Eddie Jones unprotected though.</div> Why? Eddie needs to go.
please, please take Dead Wood... just looking at him makes me sick. EJ and Grant are there because of the contracts and because Charlotte isn't going to take either... nor would they take penny hardaway, allan houston, stackhouse or the other big names. many of them are left unprotected not because their teams believe they'll be taken, but because that way they can protect the players they want to keep.
Stackhouse can be a possiblity, his contract is 7 million, but Houston, EJ, Grant, Antoine Walker, Penny are just there because the Bobcats won't take them.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">many of them are left unprotected not because their teams believe they'll be taken, but because that way they can protect the players they want to keep.</div> You guys are forgetting trade scenarios involving these "high priced" players. It's entirely possible(and probable)that Charlotte could take several of those guys to use in trades.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys are forgetting trade scenarios involving these "high priced" players. It's entirely possible(and probable)that Charlotte could take several of those guys to use in trades.</div> Nobody is forgetting about trade scenarios, the only reason nobody mentioned trade scenarios involving involving these overpriced players with long term contracts which bring very little to the table such as Brian or Eddie is because it is unrealistic and nobody wants them. Pat Riley has been trying to find ways to get rid of Brian and Eddie since the beginning of the season, problem is nobody wants to have anything to do with them. Charlotte will not take them with the intent to trade them because the fact of the matter is nobody will want them and they will not be able to trade them. If by slight chance a team does infact inquire about a trade for one of these players, it will be impossible for the Bobcats to get full value and have it be a fair trade. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the Bobcats take Brian or Eddie, but Bernie Bickerstaff actually wants to keep his job for more than one season and it would be stupid not to take Loren Woods and just release him.
