Vince, most definitely, is a franchise player. Just because he isn't dunking anymore, and has been bahsed becauseo fhis injuries and 'lack of effort' doesn't mean he is not a franchise player. He is a franchise player and carries the team. He is a good leader, although it was questionable at a few(few) times in these past two/three seasons.

He should've said Vince isn't a leader. He's the most talented player in this squad, for that matter, one of the best in the L, but he's not that vocal at all, and he needs to show lot more emotions during the game like KG does, that just energizes your teammates on the court, and talk to them and get up on their faces regularly, even criticize them for crying out loud!

Can't people just get that not every player is like that, hardly any players in the league have the physical showing of intensity that KG does, a player can be a great leader without screaming after every big play, screaming at teammates, or swearing at themselves when they miss shots.
Is Duncan a bad leader? No
Does he show intensity like KG? Not even close but as long as he's winning no one will question that.

The look on your face doesn't always describe how you feel inside, and some people jsut aren't like that, 21 years of building your personality isn't going to change in 5 or 6 years because some reporter or analyst is saying you aren't a leader.

You know its pretty hard for Vince having to go through so many coaches and having to adjust his game to their type of play. He also has to get used to differnt players coming in every year (and I mean ALOT)

He most definitely is a Franchise player, if you look at some other franchise players you see Paul Pierce, Steve Francis, and Jason Kidd. Can you honestly say Vince isn't as good or better than any of them? No you cant.

How is Francis a franchise player? Just because his nickname is The Franchise? Francis is not and never will be a player to build a franchise around.

A franchise player is a player whom the team builds the roster around, and is the focus of the team at least offensively, if not on both sides of the floor. In the Rockets' case, Yao is who the team is building around, so he is the supposed franchise player, although he is not performing like one yet on a consistent basis.

Then again, let's stick to the topic and talk about Carter, not the Rockets.

ok i see both sides here. dont get me wrong im a huge vince fan hes my favorite player. see the problem with vince is that hes always injuried. thats why the say hes not a franchise player. see if he comes out like tmac and drop 30 a nite then his team mite not win because tmac team didnt. Now wilbon probably said that because vince was one shot away frmo the eastern finals and imo they would of beet the bucks. after that year the raptors made it to the playoffs once and lost in 7 games to detriot. now everyone expected more vince to finally lead his team higher but he kept getting hurt so thats one side of view. the other is thats hes a great player and he can play with the best of them.

from my side i think that vince is a mvp material player but he doesnt work hard for it. he puts up shots and when they dont fall he still dose vince can drive past almost everyone in the league why doesnt he just do that and get easy points.

how could i guy that hasn't been to the playoffs in three years be proclaimed a franchise player?. he's being conferred the honour rather than earning it. if i was raptors gm i would trade him as my first act.
