There has been talk that Indiana will also discuss using Harrington in a sign-and-trade deal to get free-agent center Erick Dampier (a Pacers draft pick in 1996) back from Golden State. Just a rumor but I found this in here: http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_sto...?intid=38152104
I don't know if it can happen, but I'd be pretty excited if I were Mullin at the opportunity to get Harrington... and hopefully draft a good center/backup to Adonal (Adonal IS going to start if Damp leaves, right?).
Too many young, inexperienced players with "potential". You have to start getting people who will make an immediate good impact, not those who will bring it at a latter time. Harrington is also too inconsistent. I say you go for a C and a PG since Dampier is leaving and also somebody to start in place of Claxton and NVE since they aren't the cream of the crop. I suggest going after Barry or Jason Williams. Not taking anything away from Claxton, he's great and all but having a premium PG would really up your chances, especially for home games since they set the pace and the game. Edit: If you want to be a young team that's good, follow the examples of the Bucks, Grizzlies and Jazz. They're teams that achieved a good record with a young inexperienced roster. Get people who can get it done, who're ready to make a good contribution as well as offer a future big change, meaning good players who still have the ability to mature, improve and simply get better.
If I was going to do the trade I would be very hesitant, you can't get any decent centers nowadays. Dampier might be just starting to hit his stride after finding out this past season of what he can accomplish if he comes to play every night. I would do everything possible to resign him.

When you have that kind of numbers as a sixth man, it's certain that you will produce with a new team and more minutes. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I say you go for a C and a PG since Dampier is leaving and also somebody to start in place of Claxton and NVE since they aren't the cream of the crop. If he gets 32mpg, he can go 17/6 each game. NVE, meanwhile, is a stellar PG, great for a sixth man role. With the duo, the Warriors actually have an above average PG pair. Barry and Williams are both nice players, but are not essentially better than Van Exel or Claxton.
I can't see Harrington coming here and being happy. He wants to go to a team that will allow him to start. My guess is that Mullin likes Murphy and Dunleavy too much to allow that to happen.
I don't see the Pacers getting rid of Harrington. He is really coming into his own and he was a big reason for the Pacers success this year. He brings them energy off the bench and could start if they needed him to, which will likely be soon as Miller continues to age. So, I don't see them trading Harrington anytime soon. Too good of a player to get rid of and he's still very young.

He wants a situation where he knows he is going to start. He sacrificed starting this year for the sake of the team but has been very open about his desire to start, no matter where that may be. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> So, I don't see them trading Harrington anytime soon. I haven't seen Harrington's all around game yet. Is he a good defender? Is he a smart passer? Does he have 3 point range? Isn't he a tweener at SF/PF? I wouldn't mind having him since he has value to him and we're losing Dampier anyway. I'd rather have Bender to tell you the truth even though he's not a great defensive guy. You get shotblocking, 3 point range, and most importantly size at 4 positions. Plus he'd be like a quick, athletic version of what Troy Murphy can do, even though not quite the rebounder.
Harrington brings great energy to the floor, almost like Foyle but with a lot more skill and versitility.
I like Harrington but I dont like this trade. I would rather use the money we free up from Damp to get a real need like a center or pf instead of having a log jam at the 3. Resign Cardinal as a backup and I think we'll be good with Peitrus taking minutes at that position aswell
Who would you take at PF or C? I hear Magloire and Okur are hot names when it comes to big men. Should we try to do bid war for Magloire? I'm not quite sure why Mehmet Okur is so hot he's basically a copy of somebody we already have. Yeah he can shoot and all but can he D it up?
well... Harrington is an all-around player. his position is SF he's tall at 6'7" he's very muscular he has shooting range he can drive to the lane and yes, he can play defense (one of our leading stealers) JB is, also, a great player he's, also, a SF he's 7' he's slender and fast he has 3-point range he has a 34"-36" vertical leap (not sure which) and he's an excellent shot-blocker only problem with Bender is, he get's injured a hella-lot

I agree about Okur tho, he lacks the post presence this team is desperate for. From what Ive seen of Magloire hes been inconsistant and lacks aggression at times.
A couple FA's I see on the list that interest me are Keon Clark(if hes healthy) and Stro Swift. Also maybe Etan Thomas(alotugh hes an unrestricted FA)

Swift would not be a bad choice at all IMO. He is a young player with tremendous potential. Montgomery could be the perfect fit for this young player.
The only thing I like about Stro is that he loves to block and dunk everything. There's not much else I like about him. Keon Clark is all right. Didn't he used to play for the Spurs? Or was it Sactown? I can't remember. Actually I think it was Sactown and then to the Jazz. I think he is now a Phoenix Sun. Thomas I've always liked. He's a Brian Grant type player with shotblocking, more rebounding and hopefully way way less hard on the salary cap.
