Arvydas Macijauskas, whoever that is, is reportedly close to signing with the Grizzlies.

He's supposed to be pretty good, Spanish league MVP and all, but anyone know anything about this guy?

This lefthander is one of the best pure shooters in Europe and is a legitimate three-point shooting threat.
European scouts note his killer instinct.
Originally an early entry candidate for the 2001 NBA Draft but withdrew his name from consideration.
Now eligible to be drafted as a player playing outside the United States who is in the year of his 22nd birthday. Began his professional career as a 16-year-old playing for Neptunas Klaipeda of the Lithuanian League (LKL).
Played three seasons for Neptunas before signing with Lithuanian powerhouse Lietuvos Rytas, a club made famous by its star guard, former NBA star Sarunas Marciulionis.

Through 23 games this season, increased his shooting percentages across the board.
Playing 22 minutes per game, he was shooting 52.6 percent from three-point range, 63.2 percent from two-point range and 91.1 percent from the free throw line, above his career average of over 87 percent.
Through the 23 games, he was seventh in the league in scoring (16.5 ppg) and was among league leaders in all shooting percentage categories.
Scored a season-high 26 points against Panavezys, hit for 23 points against Siauliai and notched 22 points against Alita Alytus.
Against his former team Neptunas, posted his best overall game of the season with 20 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists.

In his second season in Lithuania, averaged 16.9 points and shot 52.1 percent from three-point range.

In his first season for Lietuvos Rytas in 1999-2000, finished second in league in three-point field goal percentage (49.4%).
Also won the 2000 Shootout at the LKL All-Star Game. In the European Championship for Young Men, averaged 18.4 points, fourth-best in the tournament.

In 1998-99 in his final season for Neptunas Klaipeda, finished ninth in the league in scoring (16.6 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (53.8%) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (49.0%).

In 1997-98, playing his first full season for Neptunas Klaipeda at the top Lithuanian level, was second in the league in free throw percentage (89.0%) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (46.7%).

That info's a couple years old, though.

He is like Stojakovic but playing the 2, an amazing shooter and quick enough to be important in this league. Last season he scored 96 free throws straight without miss.

I have been watching him this season in the acb and he is really a good shooter, he is the best free throw shooters I have ever met, he didn't miss any free throw in the european championship. He is also quicker than stojakovic but don't have his size advantage.

his ballhandling skills are only good...he can't create his own shoot...not a very tough defender.

I?ve seen him in Euroleague and in ACB (Look at my signing), and yes, he can create his own shoot. Ezra, he?s not spanish league MVP, he?s in the first team and he has been named MVP of the week and of the month, but not MVP of the season. He is a great player, 1.93 m, he shoots very very quick, he?s an NBA player, but please, let him here for 1 or 2 years more!! He?s amazing and he isn?t lefthander.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you. I don't think he can create his own shoots with a tough defense. When he was playing against estudiantes, he could only manage to hit open shoots, he didn't drive to the basket very often and didn't excel in the one on one, yet he is still polishing his game, even if he is 24 he has still room for improvement, but he is already an nba player, there is no doubt about it.

Yes, he only shooted open shoots, he can?t go inside everytime he want to, but he can shoot with space from downtown, and he hit them often, I think. Macijauskas became Estu?s nightmare in third or fourth game, I dont remember, and shooting from outside.

From the information, sounds like he could be the next Giricek of the team. You can always trust West's eye for foreign talent.

I've always been intrigued by this kid. He has put up great numbers in some of the toughest leagues in Europe. He is also very young (23 or 24) and has been a big time scorer while playing against players older and more physical than him.

His biggest strength is his shooting ability but he is intelligent enough to find ways to put the ball in the hole w/o having to be wide open for a jump shot. If Memphis can get him than he will be one of the best zone buster in the league and I think he will surprise people w/ his ability as a natural scorer.

im reading that hes going to the nba next season, he was not drafted and his freedom only costs 200.000 dollars. Bulls, Spurs and the Grizz are the main options.
