Ok, so I am a Pistons fan, that aside I have a question that has perplexed me this whole series, even into the post game interviews. How come during this series and even after it was over, did I not hear (except for Fisher and Jack Nicholson) any credit given to the Pistons that they were a great team. All I heard was how we did not execute, we did not have the passion ad naseum. If the Lakers were supposedly THE TEAM to beat and the Pistons did it, surely you would expect the coach and players acknowledge this fact. Yet rarely did it surface during the whole series. I have watched many a sports championships in my day (Hockey, Baseball, Football etc) and this is the first time in my memory where they talked about themselves and gave no credit to the opposition. Something seems amiss there in your Laker Land!

You shocked the world, you shocked all the Laker fans out in LA LA Land and all over California, and you have the trophy residing in Detroit, and you're complaining that you're not getting enough recognition as a great team? Listen, you defied the odds to win it when nobody else thought you would. In the meantime, you'll receive all the recognition and all the arguments will circulate whether or not this team can be considered a great team. Go out to the parade downtown and celebrate.
Derek Fisher showed true class in his interview towards the Pistons. The lakers players know they ran into a more motivated, deeper, quicker, bigger, better team.
Why are you worrying about the recognition? you guys just won a championship and are the best team in the league at this point. Go out and celebrate rather than worry about detroit getting enough credit.
imo, if you start to keep the "detroit not getting respect" view in your head, everything gets magnified. all compliments to the Lakers become negative towards Detroit. just enjoy the moment.

But, I believe the Lakers didn't acknowledge that the Pistons were a great team because they feel as if they had played at their full potential (Which I know they didn't), they would have gave the Pistons a better run for their money. Or maybe they were just disgraced on they way which they played. Who knows.
The Lakers gave plenty of compliments to the Pistons. Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Phil each of them addressed the superior performance of the Pistons. ESPN aired it, maybe you were still watching ABC?
The first thing to come out of shaq's mouth at the press conference after the game was congratulations to the piston's organization, and how they played a great series. Phil also said the better team won. So yea, no one clowned them, maybe the media, but none of the laker players. Although i did not hear malone say anything like shaq and phil, but he also did not bash them
The Lakers players complimented Detroit (most anyways), but it's the media that's jacking everything up. What most of your average/casual basketball fan see is that the Lakers lost, not the Pistons won. That's the sad truth and the media is responsible for this stupid perception. The Lakers gave credit where credit is due, but the media didn't.
The media also has the Lakers headlining the basketball world. They are writing more stories on the rumored break up of the Lakers than reflecting on the Piston's glory.
