im kinda getting sick of all the jokes and cracks people are continually making about darko. its the medias fault for hyping him up the way they did. jermaine o'neal was used just as sparingly in his rookie year...look at him now. darko is a project. obviously some people are too imature and blind to see this...its pretty obvious to me. do any of us know something that the pistons coaching staff dont? certainly not. they worked him out, ran him through drills, and decided that he was the best option for them to draft. give him a couple of years...its clearly what he needs. being on a team like the pistons is a perfect environment for him to develop in, and i for one wont be too surprised if he emmerges as a great player in about 3 yrs. remember...hes only 19. that is all
I for one wont be too surprised if he turns out to be a bust when the media and the Pistons organization said he had a bright future. I would be too surprised if he becomes one of the top centers in the NBA and perhaps he can ressurect the Russell-Chamberlain combat with Yao Ming.
I don't really mind him, nor do I like him, I've never really honestly commented on him except for Dumars. Dumars is one smart person and knows what he's doing, if he can make a winning team out of defense and team effort, imagine surely what he will get out of an "up and coming superstar." The Pistons will probably have more in the future, but Dumars is great in thinking about the longterm, he'll have an adverse effect in the future. I think he ought to be good simply because like Dirk and Peja, he's a big European who can shoot. Helps for rebounding as well, as for the blocking aspect after being compared to Russell and Yao, maybe not.
Darko is only 19 years old, and hardly got any playing time this year, so yes, people should lay off him and all the jokes. He'll be a great player in a few years, dropping 20 points and 15 rebounds a game soon. Since his just a kid still, he has to be more experienced on the court. He will learn new moves, how to be a better shooter, and eventually, he'll figure how to stop Shaq. People are just impatient dj_premium_plus, that's all, and they won't soon after Darko becomes a great player.
^ Damn ya beat me, I almost reposted what you posted. Well his hand should heal up soon and the kid did bulk up to 260 when he started off the season at 245. That's 1 +.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Peja King:</div><div class="quote_post"> 19 in 2 days</div> like i said...hes 19 either way...im not saying that darko WILL be a superstar...nor am i a huge darko fan. (how can i be a fan of a player who barely sees any minutes). im just saying that i think its immature for people to rip him the way they do. wait a bit...give it some time.
He is still useful to get a good laugh out of once in awhile. <font size="1">(Breaking your hand in the last game of the NBA finals playing the final 2 minutes of the game is classic)</font> What seperates Darko from JO is the fact that Darko was chosen with the second pick in the draft as opposed to JO's selection at the 17th pick. No matter what Darko will be ridiculed as the next Sam Bowie unless he starts producing like a #2 pick. Fair or not it's the facts of life in the NBA.
Darko is a young talent. He needs to gain more weight and progresses with his game, most notably he needs more confidence. I'd say, give him about four years and he'll be a big-time defensive threat. Offense is yet to be seen.

But really they didnt have any choice but to draft darko afte rthey openned there mouths saying right away they would draft darko in the eastern finals lasst year melo canceled his workout that the team had schedualed for him. So they were basicaly caught between a rock and a hard place because one they couldnt draft melo since he obviously wanted nothing to do witht he team. Then they very well couldnt pass up darko even if he did have a horrible work out since they had already said they would draft him. Plus the media that would surround the team if they took this big of crizisam from everyone for not drafting melo imagine what they would have had to deal with if they let both melo and darko go by in the draft. I think that darko will become a big part of the pistons future because dumars is a very smart GM sort of the jerry west type GM. His moves have payed off before some of them later then sooner but he always seems to make the right ones. Though I do think darko will contribute biog for the pistons future I think he will do it as a role player sort of like a shawn bradely type a guy who had huge expectations but never really made them come true.

Well, as a matter of fact, i dunt think you are in the pistons coaching staff, and i dunt think u have the right to judge Darko for being on the court of an average of less than 2 mins on the courth during a game ! I hope Darko will prove you wrong in the up coming season, we will see.
I think Darko will be a bust. Im not certain but i think so. Just like some1 else said breaking your hand in the final 2 minutes of a NBa finals game is pretty classic.
