Despite a successful battle against breast cancer in 1997, cancer was diagnosed again in the Fall of 2003. Over the past several months, Bobbye has fought a brave and courageous battle with liver and pancreatic cancer. While she was fully aware of her condition, she was never willing to give up the fight. Her competitive spirit came from a lifetime of being involved with sports and being on the sideline with Jerry Sloan. </div> Link Now must be some really tough times for the Sloan family, I hope it all goes as well as it can for them.

The Jazz organization lost a very important member. I'm not sure whether or not that this will affect Jerry's decision to remain the head coach of the Jazz for next season. I'm sure that he will do what is best for himself, his family, and the Jazz organization. Considering how much Bobbye wanted Jerry to continuing coaching despite her illness, my gut tells me that Jerry will coach this season in honor of her and then call it a career. If not, then expect assistant coach Phil Johnson to take over the reigns.
My guess it he will stay coaching for at least another season, Bobbye would've wanted him to do that. Sloan missed a few games last season because of Bobbye, but she told him to go back to coaching. Thankfully, been the offseason, Jerry Sloan has a lot of time to think about it.
Deepest condolences to the Sloan family, and especially Jerry. Hopefully he will coach another season in her memory, and maybe even scoop the elusive COY trophy that he richly deserves (although that will be the last thing on his mind).
I feel for Jerry Sloan as well. He is one of the greatest coaches of our time in any sport, not just basketball. I see him coming back one more year, as it being something she would have wanted him to do.
I hope he's alright....especially since she was a big part in why he loved participating and coaching basketball so much. At least she is no longer in any pain, I hope she rests in peace, someday she and Jerry will be together again. If he does do another season, I know he'll do it and dedicate it to her, hopefully it'll be his best ever if he does return. Good luck to him, I know what losing someone so close to you is like, married for over 40 years....that must've hurt. Get better Jerry....
