<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">League sources told the Sentinel that McGrady informed the team Friday that he doesn't want to re-sign with it when he becomes a free agent next year. It means the Magic will trade him rather than let him walk away at the end of his contract with no compensation.

General Manager John Weisbrod initiated this showdown with McGrady. He had pressured McGrady, privately and publicly, to make a decision about his future. From all indications, McGrady had begun expressing a desire to flee sometime before Weisbrod made his April proclamation that he would not go into next season with an "I don't know" from McGrady about his plans.

Various player agents say the Magic's asking price for T-Mac will be exceptionally high and will focus on two or three teams that could deliver a package of players.

Candidates include the Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns - all teams with one outstanding young big man. They reportedly have expressed interest in adding McGrady.

Not surprised by this, but I'm disappointed in McGrady for giving up on the Magic already. Last season he was bragging that he was going to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs, then after one bad season he wants out? I hope he gets traded to the Bobcats so he can lose another 60 games next season.

Yep.. Trade him.. Lets get some good players with the deal.. Let's actually build a team around our draft pick and the players we get for him, and show him that this team could of won...

He made a dumb decision. Next year after we have a complete team and have salary cap to max someone out, he will be looking at Orlando and thinking of what could have been. Now I'm excited to see what we will get for him. Please let Juwan and Declerq go in the trade too.

Agreed sportsrock. He will end up like Gary Payton and Karl Malone(No disrespect) and try to go to a teams that wins. Orlando is rebuilding believe that and when we do make it to the finals or past the 1st round in the playoffs. Tracy will be like. Damn.

Well the top 3 candidates right now for trade are Indiana, Houston, and Phoenix.

I guess Orlando wants... Harringotn, Bender, and Artest for T-Mac and probably another person.

Houston can offer Francis and Mobley

Phoenix will have to give up Marion and Joe Johnson.

I'm not sure which team he'll go to, It would be nice to see him Houston with Yao though.

I thought the meeting was on saturday.

    Question.
Why would the magic trade tmac before the season starts? Why can't the magic play tmac before the trade dealine. Then Maybe They could have a great season and he would sign a contract extension. If not then they could trade him.

The Pacers deal looks pretty good.

We can get Artest, a great defensive player.
Jamal Tinsley, a much needed solid point guard.
Al and Bender, decent players with potential.

The Rockets deal, may also include Cato.
    Then we'd have a Pg, a decent SG, and a solid C.

And I don't like the Suns deal...

I am guessing Orlando has plans to re-build the team, and will need to know who's in or who's out. If they start early, they can sign agents, size players up and know what they need rather than scrambeling before the deadline...

The answer to that is that if we deal him now, we could get a whole lot more for Tmac then if we deal him at the deadline. The reason being is that at the deadline everyone will know that we are pressing on a deal to get rid of him, so they wouldn't offer as much as they would now.

I love all 3 deals. Pacers we get a bunch of young prospects plus a defensive stopper.

Hopefully the Rockets throw in Cato too, because he is the defensive center that we have been looking for. Mobley would help some of the scoring load for the Magic.

Suns-I really like Matrix, he's one of my favorite players and he is a nice rebounder and scorer. Joe Johnson also has the potential to be a superstar and has shown flashes. So that deal looks pretty good to me too, IMO.

Well, time to take down my T-Mac posters. I'm dissappointed but I'm glad he's gone. I don't want a quitter and a whiner on my team. Hill has had 4 major surgeries yet he still tries to comes back. These 2 are nothing alike. I'm hoping even more Hill comes back in All-Star status and makesa fool out of T-Mac. [IMG]

As for the draft, I think we gotta take Howard now. He's got way too much upside. I'm thiking down the road now.

Yeah, if T-Mac leaves for sure, than I'm leaning towards Howard to. But if we do the phoenix/pacers trade, we would be better of with Emeka, don't you think?

now, I know the Magic would try to play the field and see how much they could get outta the 3 potential teams... I don't think we (the Pacers) would offer Artest AND other good players (we'd offer Croshure and Pollard to equal T-Mac's contract) b/c if you think about it... T-Mac's only a scorer and Artest is a scorer (though not as good) and DPOT which I think that makes them equal...

    T-Mac: 28 ppg
    Artest: 18 ppg/opp. against Artest: 9.7 ppg

But... As I said, the Magic will most deffinately play the field and get as much as possible outta T-Mac... so, yeah, I think, if the Pacers wanted him badly enough, we'd trade all that for T-Mac (and the same thing goes for Phoenix/Houston)... But, I don't think we'd trade Artest AND Harrington (we'd wanna keep 1 so we'd have atleast one starting SF).

I, also, feel the same way about Houston... I think Francis and Mobley/Cato would be sufficient (but the "play-the-field factor kicks in) and not all three...

    head-to-head this season

    Game #1

    Pacers - Orlando : 89 - 78

    R. Artest: 17points, 7-17 shots (1-5 for 3pts), 5rebounds, 2steals, 4 turnovers

    T-Mac : DNP

    Game #2

    Pacers - Orlando : 90 - 94

    T-Mac : 21points, 8-19 shots (4-9 from the 3pt line), 6rebounds, 11(! and he is so selfish [IMG]) asists, 2 steals, 5 turnovers

    R. Artest : 18points, 7-18 shots (2-9 from the 3pt line), 3asists, 3rebounds, 4steals, 4 turnovers

    Game #3

    Pacers - Orlando : 114 - 107

    R. Artest: 23points, 9-16 shots, 4rebounds, 4asists, 1steal, 4 turnovers

    T-Mac : 43 points, 14-27 shots (8-11 from the 3pt line), 4asists, 2steals, 4 turnovers

    Game #4

    Pacers - Orlando : 107 - 92

    R. Artest: 35points, 12-22 shots (3-4 from the 3pt line), 7 rebounds, 5asists, 3 steals, 3 turnovers

    T-Mac: DNP

So, overall, I think T-Mac did quite good aginst the DPOY (altough he only played 2 games). Based on the stats, I didn't saw the games (we don't have any of the games on the tv here [IMG] ) So basiclly, they are in the "same" class. Almost. T-Mac leads with ppg and apg and Artest leads in rpg, spg and tpg category...

If you wrap it all toghether it sth like this:

    R. Artest: 4 games.......................T-Mac 2 games

    23,25 points/game........................32 points/game
    35/73 = 48% FG...........................22-46 = 48% FG
    4,75 rebounds/game......................3 rebounds/game
    2,5 steals/game............................2 steals/game
    3,75 turnovers/game......................4,5 turnovers/game
    3,25 asists/game...........................7,5 asists/game

Thank you sergio for debunking Pacer Dude's claim that they are both equal. They are not even close. Tmac is far more superior than Artest.

I was talking about the pacers-magic games...

And not about their game in all of the games they've ever played..

Yeah, well he's accomplished so much so far, so many great players have achieved so much. The only thing absent from them is NBA Gold. I'm hoping he goes to a team where he can help, teams that lack serious offense because he's not that great of a defender, although his size makes him a pretty awesome rebounder. I'm hoping for the Rockets, Grizzlies, Spurs or Lakers.

Well I think if the magic dont lower there requests in a trade for tmac they will lose him without compensation. They have requested if a trade with phonex would go down they would want both amare and shawn marion in return. If they were to trade tmac to the rockets they want francis, mobley, and a big man like cato. So basically they are in a hole right now they want to much, but teams wont give it to them because now that they know tmac wants out they know the magic will eventually cave in and lower there trade requests in fear that tmac will leave and they will have nothing in return.

Yeah but Orlando could make the other teams compete for the best offers since they know that they are definetely trading Tracy, and have Rockets, Suns, Pacers give even them more shizzle for their fizzle.

You guys dont know whats going on. The Magic are going to get minimum value for T-Mac. And T-Mac is making sure he screws over the franchise and john wiesbord. Before a trade happens the team doing the trade will contact Mcgrady, and they wil ask him what he thinks of the trade and if he is willing to play for that team. So Tracy could easily say he only wants to go to the Pacers, and Larry Bird will say "we know Tracy will only play for us, so we are only giving up artest and Pollard, and we want tracy and your 2 second round picks" See the ball is in T-Macs court, its up to him where he goes and who for, almost like he is a free agent. Beleive me larry Bird and Jeff Van Gundy are goin to rip off the Magic and their inexperienced hockey GM .
