So Francis dribbles the ball into his teammates? His assist to turnover ration will improve once the Rockets get some more offensive talent...

Crazy... I hope Kobe does the smart thing and stays in L.A. Look what Buss has done for him... If he leaves then the Lakers are screwed... As far as T-Mac, that's pretty much a lock... That rumor had been around for a while and I think it will happen, but I wish they would do something with the Lakers as well.

Dude, Creating of the dribble means being able to breakdown you're defender to get into the lane or get a mid-range jumper, also called creating you're own shot. Do you really even watch basketball?

The rockets are a slow half-court team they dont jack-up alot of shot's like dallas or other teams, So turnover are magnified. Francis throwing the ball to the other team or straight-up losing the rock while coming down the court has nothing to do with the offensive talent around him.

So Kidd, Davis and Nash never penetrate off the dribble? You're making no sense, dribble penetration is a HUGE part of their games and Francis'... You're the one wanting to move Francis to the 2, so do you watch basketball? You don't move a player that is one of the top players at his position, just because he makes a bad decision here and there.

Lol I never said kidd, davis or nash dont penetrate. Why are you putting words in my mouth, i said francis's game is penetration of the dribble. He does not know how to create with passing. Francis is a top player not a top PG to be a top PG you have to take care of the ball and create of the pass. Francis does not know how to do either.

If he only creates off of penetration he wouldn't of worked in an offense that discourages penetration, like the Rockets offense last season. He got his regular number of assists last season as he usually got in past seasons, without the benefit of an offense that allows much penetration. So Kidd could be one of the league leaders in turnovers, a lot of times the league leader, and still be the top PG? Magic Johnson usually led the league in turnovers as well, he must of not taken care of the ball either. I consider Bibby a better point guard than Francis but he didn't create off the pass much this past season, and he doesn't even lead his team in assists. Besides none of the point guards you're talking about are coming to the Rockets, nobody else is taking Francis' point guard spot.

The rockets dont dicourage penetration, To have a truely dominate inside game, you must have a penetrator on the floor

    Kobe - Shaq
    Hamilton, Billup - R.Wallace, B.Wallace
    Parker, Ginobli - Duncan
    Sprewell - KG

But the rockets are not the run-gun team they were in years past, Francis is one of the best penetration - Finishers in the game, If you take the responsiblity of running the offense out of his hands, it would only be good for him and te rockets. Wether he realizes it or not.

I am not saying francis is not trying to be that pure pg the rockets need, god know he is trying hard. I just dont think he has it in him. I wish he did, if he could get it he would be the best PG in the league.

Francis can try all he wants to be a PG, but he has continually shown he doesn't have what it takes... They need to use him like the Sixers use AI, minus all the abuse, and he'll really shine. Too bad he can't do that in Houston since they have Yao and everything will and should run through him. If they wanna keep francis, they're gonna need to move him to the 2 and get a real PG (nash, parker, billups, bibby, williams, etc). I know some of these guys are unattainable, but they're just examples of true pg's. Hell, i'd even try to get eric snow. He knows how the PG is to be played, and is capable of doing it.

Who penetrated on the Rockets team with Hakeem? All the guards did there was stand around the 3 point line and they still had a dominant post up game. Kobe is basically in the same situation Francis is in... Ben Wallace does not have an inside game and Rasheed doesn't use it as much as he should... San Antonio has a great mix of post play and penetration... Come on now, KG does not play inside that much and Spree and Cassell are mid range experts nowadays...

I wouldn't be opposed to a ball handling shooting guard or small foward to take some of the PG responcibilities away from Francis, but he has to stay at PG.

There aren't many "pure" point guards around anymore, and the Rockets team as it is now would suffer with a pure point guard because those dudes usually have a very average offensive game. The Rockets need more talent, not a guy that can add to the number of players that can't create for others on the Rockets, right now they only have 2-1/2, Francis, Yao, and Jim Jackson.

Francis isn't even close to AI, it would be dumb to move him to the 2 and make him an average shooting guard when he's already a great PG. They don't need, and won't move Francis to the 2, period. Eric Snow? Since when does Jeff Van Gundy like point guards that can't shoot?

Okay first, I seem to remember a guy named Maxwell in '94 and drexler in '95 pretty sure they were penertators

    B. Wallace and R.Wallace did have big inside point production. No doubt billups and RiP where the scorers but do you really think the pistons whould have got the finals without rasheed. Yes SA does have a great mix and you need that mix to be dominate. And you are joking right KG doesnt play inside that much (You dont have to be a back to the basket player to be a paint player), Yes spree and cassel are mid-range player cassel more than spree but you dont have to go all the way to the basket to be a penetrator (That would be a finisher)

The Rockets dont need a PG with a above average (Just average) offensive game, that would be yao's and francis job, The PG has to set-up the other players on the court. The rockets also dont need a J-Kidd or a Nash just someone competent in setting-up the other player and who will take care of the rock. Francis is a okay assist man but only if he can do it without turning over the ball 3 - 4 times a game

I seem to remember Maxwell more as a shooter, Drexler was a penetrator though...

No they woudln't of made it, but he gave them more on defense than he did on offense...

Francis would be an average shooting guard on offense and below average on defense, he won't even be a better option than Mobley... There isn't much to set up on the Rockets, there's a lot of players to create for, that's why they need Francis at PG or someone in his class at another position besides center. He's going to turn the ball over, you can't really change that about a playmaker, you might be able to cut down on it a little bit with more talent around him and lesser responcibilities, but in the end he's going to force a play here and there that will lead to turnovers.

If francis can't play the 2 at houston, then he needs to go do it somewhere else, cuz he aint cutting it as a PG. The guy has tremendous talent and ability, but is being asked to do something he aint fit to do. Plain and simple

T-Mac won't end up in Houston because the rockets aren't willing to give up that much for him. Although Mark Cuban is willing to trade pretty much whatever the magic want so T-Mac will play in a Mavericks jersey next season.

The Orlando Magic hold the first selection in the draft, and team officials claim they are undecided on whether to select Okafor or Howard.

Orlando also is listening to trade offers for Tracy McGrady, and a reported deal with Houston involving Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and others could be contingent on whether the Bobcats select any of Orlando's unprotected players.

"We have been in conversations with the Magic, and we're good listeners and good facilitators," Bickerstaff said. "We have to make a decision not to do anything that's vindictive, but to do something we can derive some benefit from. The conversations we've had have been cordial conversations."

I can definitely see something happening with Houston.

lol, i usually would agree with you, work for the teams, but alas my friend the deal has a high shot of going down as long as Mobley and Cato aren't taken in the Expansion Draft, Mobley, Francis, Cato for Howard, Mcgrady...I would rather see T-mac and Oneal playing for the Mavs, I was excited to see that, but now it looks like T-Mac has Yao instead...
