<div class="quote_poster">Quoting IKeepsItTreel:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm very happen for Payton. I think last year while Phil was there Payton really got hammered by the press. And i believe he will show alot more for the lakers with a new offense set to get him off scroing and possibly even a great running mate in kobe that he can dish dimes too. I believe with Fish and Payton there pg spot is well equipped.</div> Well I believe Fisher said that he wouldnt resign with the team if Payton didnt opt out because he feels he can be a starter somewhere else..
do you think that mitch might trade him? Now that Phil is gone I think he should stay. But if phil stayed do you think that a trade would have been necassary?
I think Payton would have been traded had Phil stayed. He would have likely demanded one actually. He despised the offense Phil ran and he didn't enjoy not being able to do what he wanted. But, since Phil is gone now and he won't have to go and run the triangle, he'll likely be much happier next year. He'll be able to go and post up the smaller point guards more often and he'll be able to creat more for himself off the dribble. So, pretty much, he'll be able to play the game the way he was used to playing it in Seattle.
