Heard that a Francis, Mobley, and Cato for McGrady and Howard has been agreed upon, and will be announced on Tuesday. First thing I thought was, WOW! Can't say I'm not disappointed, but I'll still be a Rocket fan, I'll wish Francis the best and hope McGrady changes. One thing that has me doubting this, besides the fact that I haven't heard anything about it in a real media outlet, is that I'm not sure if trades can be announced so quickly after the Finals end. Does anyone know when trades can be announced?

The trade you mentioned has been talked about and has been offered but I've heard no word that both teams have agreed to it. Trades that happen now will likely be allowed to be offical on wednesday, after the expansion draft which takes place on tuesday.
I have a cousin in Orlando that asked me if Houston TV has announced it yet, because he heard a radio station over there say that it's all done, just needs to get announced. Anyone who listens to talk radio should know that it's usually all talk, we'll see...
What!!! I don't like this trade one bit. What was Carroll Dawson thinking? T-Mac does not cover the scoring void left by Mobley and Francis. Howard is an upgrade over Cato, but he has a huge contract and many years left on it. Damn... I have my fingers crossed hoping that this trade is bogus, and I'm sure most fans would be enraged by this. <font size="-2">What can we do about it though?</font>
I'm thinking it's a bunch of BS... And that Orlando is the one that offered them McGrady, that the Rockets never contacted them or have shown interest in McGrady... I'd rather see the Rockets build around Yao and Francis, get a better SG/SF, a better PF, a MUCH better bench... They lack so much talent that I sometimes wonder how the hell they win in the West... _BN_, you want McGrady to stay so you guys could under achieve year after year? So you guys could remain leaderless? Hope that someone grossly overpays for him and the Magic could start building that team like Detroit built their's after trading Grant Hill.

But I guess the trade is better than having T-Mac stay...
Hmph.. well I do very well believe you and/or your cousin, but.. the Magic have to be very stupid to deal with the Rockets.. One reason is, a trade occuring so soon would mean very little contact with other teams, meaning less trade options, less money, etc.. Another reason would be that the Rockets "offer" was, in my opinion, bull shit for the Magic.. I mean, Francis is ok, Mobley, eh, Cato, ehhh.. The trade could very well have happend, because if the Magic give up Howard, than they got enuff cap room to sign Mobley and Cato. Probably the biggest reason why the Magic are stupid to do/have done this would be because the Pacers, have publicly shown interest, and they "publicly" offered, there were 4, I only remember Al Harrington, and Ron Artest.. those 2 alone would be an amazing offer, one that, I would think, no one can turn down.. If indeed this trade happens,Ill be pissed, sad, pissed again, than maybe optimistic,, confused, somewhat inrigued, and finally, awaiting the new season.. If Howard comes to Houston, i hope we can land some deal that would bring Antonio Mcdyess to Houston.. I think if we let/had let Francis mature, i think he would be the Gary Payton of our era, yes, that may be a good thing, that will pass the ball more fluently and wisely.. Looking back over the season, Francis has been trying to get everyone involved, but he rushes, or takes to long (how redundant was that?). He needs to feel the groove. I know, if hes got the right coach, he'll put up 20 ppg, 5 rpg, 2 (or close) spg, and finally 7-8 apg.. I have a cusin that lives over in the Orlando area, I'll check to see if he's heard anythin.. Man, I dont want Francis to leave tho. If we gave Mobley, Cato, and another player, like Taylor, we wouldve had enuff cap room to sign Tmac, and trade Howard for better PF. I really dont know what my reaction would be.. Am I happy? or sad? or mad? hmph.
Well francis is by far my favorite nba point guard. I think with him and mobley both in orlando they will peform very well with those two and get peaces to build around them and tmac will regret leaving orlando because now he has to deal with well the twolves and KG the kings and c-webb possible the lakers and kobe and the spurs and duncan. IMO even though tmac is agreat player horrible trade for the rockets now they have a old point guard in mark jackson and something all the teams in the playoffs in the west all have in commen is great point guards parker, cassel, payton, bibby, jason williams, and nash. We will have to see how this works to francis and mobley much luck in orlando sure you will perform well. This of course if this is official and all plays out this way.
WOW, When i here this my heart sinks abit i am all for mcgrady to houston i think it wil work out for him. But to actually lose francis is a bit sickening. I have watch the guy for 5 years and have seen him do some awsome stuff. I know this is what i wanted but i hope it is not the wrong thng to do.
I read the article that RocketGuro posted on another thread and it said Francis can't be traded until after July 1st, so I'm thinking it's all BS from the radio station or my cousin just understood it wrong. Sorry!
Francis is considered a "base year" player until July 1, complicating deals involving him. But the teams could work around the difficulties of trading players in their "base year" by including other teams, or by reaching an agreement on a deal to be announced in July, a possibility that seemed to fit with Orlando Magic general manager John Weisbrod's plans "I expect to know (by Thursday)," Weisbrod said. "I can't say that I would expect that to be public information. I have every intention of knowing where that's going when we make these (draft) decisions." A deal will be made before the draft even if we dont know about it. Not impossible just complicated. No point freaking over it we will know soon enough.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Trades that happen now will likely be allowed to be offical on wednesday, after the expansion draft which takes place on tuesday.</div>Doesn't this explain everything?
I think that this is a great trade and just that. This is good for both teams. The Rockets need a star and the Magic need two starters. Great Trade!
Something happend with Tmac and a trade, according to him <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> "until it's official . . . after the draft. </div> Interesting bit of info eh? How bout this? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I can't let my tricks out of the bag. I don't have any comment." </div> I think some sort of deal has been made; Not sure if its with Houston though.. Now were hearing all this crap bout Shaq to Orlando, and Kobe to LA (clippers that is). Then I read the thing about Rudy and LA. I'd like to see him coaching again, he's very lucky to coach so many superstars in his coaching career: Hakeem, Clyde, Sir Charles, Pippen, Francis, Yao, Maxwell (he coulda been great, but he was in the time he had). Now the chance of Shaq and Kobe. I'd take it if I were him, but I think deep down, his heart will be in Houston. I said it in the Ollie thread, and ima say it here. The Rockets should sign Tierre Brown. He was so solid in the preseason, I was so confused when we let him go.. anyone know if he had any problems (outside of bball that is)? But now hes a Free Agent again, and if this trade does happen, We'll need a solid PG that can throw some assists, as well as 10-15 ppg. And since he is so young, if he plays with Tmac and Yao, he could be so amazing in the league, its kinda scary.
I'd rather see Gooden in here than Howard...but either way, TMac/Yao duo will just be CRAZY, plus this also releases a lot of huge contracts like Mobley and Cato...3 huge contracts for 2, which means it could open the possibility for another key free-agent and/or trade move...
I expect Orlando to offer Francis, Cato and some other players to LA for Shaq. LA has publicly announced they are shopping Shaq and he still lives in Orlando.. Another intriguing note... Lakers are talking to Rudy T about a head coaching job.
