There are trade rumors about Shaq and Dirk. What do you think. Does this trade makes sense? I would hate to see Dirk in a Lakers jersey and Sahq in a mavs jersey.
I don't think Shaq for Nowitzki straight up is even possibly, let alone a good trade. Can we have a link too? Please?
Although this couldn't possibly happen, they aren't worth one another. It would solve a lot of problems for your team in the sense that, Shaq can does and plays D. He'd probably do well if he tried hard if he cleaned up after Walker's mess ups, he scores well as well, however he really wouldn't add any class but simply depth to your team. It won't happen and I'd rather not have it happen. Look for someone else.
I would only take it if it was Nowitzki and like Finley or Nash... You have to add someone in there... or maybe a first (even future) first round pick. Or some cash, etc.
if shaq does get traded, it would be smart for the lakers to ship him east that way they only see him twice and only in the finals possibly. i though cuban would trade anyboy BUT dirk, i know i heard that somewhere; might have been espn. plus, dallas has to include at least one more player or some cash or something extra.
That trade straight up wouldnt work out. The contracts dont match and the player values dont match. Also it would be a stupid move for the lakers because you one trade him to a western conferense rivial two you get less than you could if you trade him east. Also it would be a stupid move for the mavs. They are yes a horrible defensive team that needs a talented big man, but also they run a fast break offense like every time down the court. Shaquille would never be able to keep up with that speed for 82 games of the regular season at 320 pounds and also play the playoffs his body would break down.

I just dont believe shaq would be able to fit the mavs. unless dallas developed a whole new gameplan to compensate to Shaq.
good god i hate these threads. "i heard blah blah blah blah blah" where did you hear it? imo, a trade rumour is only an actual rumour if it comes from some kind of source...otherwise, i could just make anything up..."did you hear shaq might get traded for tom gugliotta" is it just me? or should the rumor mill be reserved for discussion about actual rumours, instead of just a place to make up any trade?
Actually this is based on a actual rumor http://www.floridatoday.com/!NEWSROOM/spor...S0620TWENTT.htm "We talk all the time about it," McGrady told FLORIDA TODAY on Saturday. "Me and the Big Fella are trying to get to Dallas together now

This would and could never happen. The Lakers aren't dumb enough to do this. Shaq, though older, is still worth much more to that franchise than Nowitzki would be. Plus, Cuban likes him too much. Another thought, if they brought in Shaq, that would, without a doubt, completely change the way that the Mavericks play.
Yeah thats not eaven right,Nowitzki is a younger player who has a future Shaq doesnt,Dirk is a better offensive threat now and the only thing Shaq has over Dirk is a little defense.
Well if cuban was smart he would redesign the Mavs, they will never win a chamionship playing like they do. I mean i have never seen a team not care at about defense like the mavs, it boggles my mind
Cuban will never redesign the Mavs. He's got a formula that works right now....for the regular season. Come postseason it sucks cause that's when defense matters. But, it's not his fault the team plays that way. He just gets the players. It's more on the shoulders of Don Nelson's that this team sucks at defense. If he were smart, he'd be running loads of drills in practice to improve the team defense. It doesn't matter what you do as an individual defender, but, if you play great team defense, you'll be tough to beat. Two teams to look at for great examples of TEAM defense, the Indiana Pacers and the world champion Detroit Pistons.
Umm actually it is cubans fault, He leaves Nelson as the coach who doesnt give one bit about defense and he keeps going out and getting these player who cant play a lick of defense because he dont know shit about basketball. Only thing cuban can do is act like a 8 year old kid in the stands. If i was a mavs fan i would be pissed, but thats just me.
True Cuban does keep Nelson around, but, would you be getting rid of a coach who wins 50 games or so a year, even though he can't or just chooses not to coach defense? No. That's like getting rid of Larry Brown because he doesn't coach offense for crap. And, I believe I mentioned it earlier, just because you can't play individual defense, doesn't mean you can't be good on team defense. Because, in my opinion, there are only a handful of good one on one defenders in the league. But, if you have players who are willing to lock down and play defense as a team, you don't need good one on one defenders. If you can lock down and play team defense, you can control the pace of the game and do whatever you want. You don't need good one on one defenders to be good on team defense. So, just because he goes and gets offensive players means nothing. He's recruiting for the way his team plays pretty much. But, it's Don Nelson who needs to go and preach defense. And, personally, I don't think Nelson will be around if they don't win it next year anyways.
Be realistic people. Would you want a more skilled player who can't lead his team to jack or would you want a player who is is less skilled, but has more impact on his team while leading him further? Kobe was the best player on the Lakers, but how did they even reach the finals? It's because of Shaq and his impact, not his skills. Nowitzki has more skills than Shaq and he's the better player like McGrady, but does he have any massive positive impact on his team? Stop using the "Shaq is aging" excuse. Accept who he currently is, and accept the fact that he can still lead a team to a championship. All of you say how this trade isn't even fair for Dallas. But I think it's not fair for the Lakers. The Mavericks need to insert another quality player(s) into the trade in order for it to happen.
