Could Marquis Leave? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Mavericks believe that at least two teams are considering offering Marquis Daniels more than the $5 million salary exception, which could make keeping him difficult. Atlanta, Charlotte and Utah are believed to have interest in Daniels. The Mavericks can offer him any part of the exception. But if a team under the salary cap offers more, the Mavericks cannot match. ... There is a chance the Mavs could move up into the first round of Thursday's NBA draft. Reports around the league are that they have taken a liking to 7-5 Pavel Podkolzine. </div> http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...date.2d229.html Man this would be a blow to the Mavs, I can really see Atlanta or Utah doing this, maybe not so much Charlotte, but Marquis could be gone.
How would they move up in the draft, the Mavs need a big man and Pavel would be a good fit, but I don't know if they have the time for him to develop
^ Yeah I don't understand that either, how can they move up in the draft..? I think keeping Daniels is a very important task for the Mavericks this summer, simply because Finley is aging and they'll need to start looking for a replacement sooner or later. He's still only 31 but by keeping Daniels they won't have to worry for a SG for a very long time, and it'll also keep Finley healthier because he will have more time to rest on the bench during games. However if they can't match anything over the MLE I think we'll see him going to Utah. They can offer him the most money, and they're willing to spend it because most free agents don't like going to Utah.
