<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont see why Stevie is so mad. I think a line up like what Orlando might have looks pretty good IMO.

    pg-Franchise/Lue
    sg- Mobley
    sf-Grant Hill?/if not than Gooden
    pf-Dwight or Emeka?
    c-Cato

I that team has potential to be a top team in the east.

BTW if I were the Bobcats I would take Howard just to mess up this trade!</div>

Ummm...are we looking at the same roster? I don't see how the Magic get any real advantage with Steve Francis, especially since the Easy is so heavy with guards. Is anyone even sure that Grant Hill will produce if/when he comes back? If they select Dwight Howard how will that help them any in the near future? Cato? Ok he has defense, and then what? That team doesn't have any potential to be better than the Pacers, Pistons, Nets, Heat, Hornets, etc. Playoff team? Maybe. Top team? No way.

According to ESPN, Houston will also get Tyronn Lue and Andrew DeClercq.

If Steve does get traded. He needs to be more positive, they have the no.1 pic right.
So I hope he calms down and hey, maybe it'll be something like when Webber and Divac didn't want to go to Sac. But now they're a good team. Keep ya head up Steve.

McGrady wants to go to the Rockets because he knows they're going to be a winning team right? If they somehow become a losing team, he won't have any more excuses. I doubt it, as they will become a championship team in the future.

Why Ming and Tmac would make an unstoppable duo like Shaq and Kobe, but Yao doesn't need as many shots as Shaq does

Steve should just stop whining. Remember when he was like that when Vancouver drafted him in 98? Yea, then he was traded to Houston and everything was good, until he gets traded to Orlando and the powerhouse that they have there. With him,Cuttino, and Okafor/Howard there, they could easily make the playoffs next year.

Man it would really be so good if Francis and Mobley stay and yet McGrady comes to Houston. Think about it, regardless who takes the power forward space, the new team has the potential to be better than any current NBA team.

    PG: Steve Francis
    SG: Cuttino Mobley
    SF: Tracy McGrady
    PF: Jim Jackson/Kevin Cato
    C: Yao Ming

Man this is a terribly strong team. None of them have the serious age problems like this year's Lakers. Too bad it won't happen.

This is a pretty hot trade but I think Rockets will lose out cause they lose francis, moble and cato. When they only get McGrady.. But if their getting Howard with it, then its good. Anyways Yao and McGrady is the new Shaq and Kobe if it works out.

Because they knew McGrady was going too be gone sooner or later, so why not trade him now and get some quality players. It's a smart move by them.

Francis will play, the guy will be professional about it and basically get on with the job in hand.

Little update on the situation... The Magic have given premission to the Rockets to discuss a contract extension with McGrady, as reported by a radio station in Orlando... Also, the Bobcats can be a-holes and screw up the trade by drafting Howard in tomorrow night's expansion draft... Francis has been quoted as saying "I thought we were really building something, something very good in Houston," Francis said. "Obviously that's not the direction they want to go. I still think we could be a very good team. I'm not crying. Like I told you before, I know this is a business. Things like that happen. I'm not mad. I'm not upset. This is what they're trying to do. But like I said, I still think we could be something." It's not a 100% done deal, but it's getting closer and closer...

    *Looks as Juwan Howard's contract*

No real chance Charlotte takes him.

    i hope not.

btw, cato has a bigger contract then howard, but howards just signed a new one last season and it expires 08-09 while cato's is up 05-06... cato gets 8 mill this season, 8.5 next.

that orlando team seems more then good enough to make the playoffs this year while the houston team looks damn good enough to win the championship within the next couple years if they were add a few good role players... and yao is as good as expected.. and nockbar pans out. and they fill the PG spot, or lue becomes good to run the offence effecently without turning the ball over.

Mcdyess has said he would love to play for houston.

i wonder how that would work out. he is a much better defender then howard, he can hit the jumper and get rebounds even when not at 100%.

i've always been a houston fan and would be happy to see this go down, mostly because i think it would give them championship-potential within the next few years (if carrell dawson, van gundy and staff pull the right moves, of course...) no real needs for big stars, as they'd have 2 of the biggest on earth... one on the inside, one on the outside ala shaq & kobe or hakeem & clyde... all they would need is good role players (which are much much more easy to come by then stars) and they could be up there with the best of em.

the biggest factor should be Yao and how well he plays with Tracy.

steve never got doubled. when tracy was in orlando, all the opponents focus went to him. and with Yao requiring a double team from every team in the NBA (exepct maybe shaq) that should leave Tracy much more room to roam.

and imagine Shaq & Kobe vs Yao & T-Mac. wowwy. [IMG]

off the top of my head i can't think of any matchups of that calabiur, ever.

of course thats if shaq stays

Mobley and Cato are unprotected also, I think. I could see the Bobcats taking Mobley, as he's a solid, potential allstar player without a burdensome contract. That would mess up the deal also.

I have mixed feelings about the deal. I think Rockets can improve sticking with the same team, but then I also wouldn't mind something really new just to shake things up a bit. And a player like McGrady could really help the Rockets financially also, given his star power.

jim grey was incorrect. cato and mobley were both protected.

yeah thats what i was thinking. there is NO WAY they would leave Cuttino Mobley unprotected.

you get to choose 8 players right?

steve, ming, cuttino, jim jackson, and cato are automatic.

and that's only 5. after nockbar, it's a toss up.... and added to that Cuttinto gets less then 6 mill, his contract isn't that high.

i was thinking that jim was wrong cuz the rockets aren't deep at all.

the Rockets have been so lucky and they don't realize it

T-Mac to Houston! This is cool, finally T-Mac gets the dominant big man he's wanted for so long. Although he's not Shaq, Yao can soon be close to being dominant.

One thing that I notice is how Houston in the past several years always seem to be the one who acquire the stars in the trades (or get the better end of the deal). Here are the trades that make me wonder if the Rockets have been so lucky:

1.) In 1999, they sent Michael Dickerson and Othella Harrington to then Vancouver Grizzlies to get prized rookie Steve Francis.

2.) In 2001, the Rockets sent three first draft picks that include Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins to the Nets for college star Eddie Griffin. Although the deal turned out to be a bummer for the Rockets, Griffin was then an upcoming star from college, and he was even projected to go as high as no. 1 overall pick in the draft. Rudy Tomjanovich was so happy to get the kid, and the whole Net fans were pissed they traded away a huge talent. At the time, the Rockets were the winners of the trade.

3.) And now in 2004, they are sending Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Kelvin Cato, Bostkan Nachbar to get SUPERSTAR Tracy McGrady, journeyman Juwan Howard and Tyrone Lue. While Steve and Cuttino are not exactly chopped liver, Tracy McGrady IMO is a superstar and only needs the right place (like Kobe in LA) to really flourish and be mentioned in the same breath as Kobe Bryant. With a couple of rings, he will soon.

If (okay it's better to say it: "when") they do get T-Mac, the Rockets can be said as one of the luckiest franchise in the past five years. Oh, shall I add they also won the lottery pick two years ago that turned out to be Yao Ming? They had less than 10% chance (6%, if I'm not mistaken) to land that pick.

Besides defense, luck is also a necessay element to win a championship. Well, I'm not saying luck = fluke, I mean this in a positive way. I think it will be cool to see them win a championship. Go Rockets!

does it mean if Charlotte selects one of these trhee players the deal is screwed?
