    this is one helluva offseason.

I personally can see Cuban trading nowtizki, but without another key player.

Well, Nowitzki, Howard, #5 and probably Walker. I think that's the newest one. I don't want walker, though. And the #5 really isn't that good. Nobody good left.

well i dought they'll trade there 5th pick and i dont think this deal will happen soon unless mark changes his mind about trading dirk. I think that if he does trade dirk, he better get someone else other than shaq in the trade.

i cant wait to see what happens.

Dirk and kobe would be a great combo to watch offensively. but theres D in Dirk Nowitzki so thats going to be scary for lakers in the post unless they would play him at sf and force Walker to pf.

As from a mvericks stnadpoint i think shaq would be a lovely aquisition.

I mean a hardworking guy like Finley could comliment Shaq well. they'll only need Nash to resign with them.

And if the Mavs land shaq i think the hardest decision for nash to make would be would if he want to go with Nowitzki (i mean with there chemistry and all that they have) or would he want to play with Shaq or maybe even Yao and Tmac.

I agree with some of you guys who say the Mavs should not give up dirk, dirk is younger and healthier then shaq, i just can't picture dirk in other jersey other then a mavs jersey, maybe bulls? i know that will never happen. I want shaq to leave the lakers, i feel bad for the big fella, the lakers are acting like he's never done anything for the team, but he's the one who carried them they past few years, i want to see Shaq and Penny back to the Magic, somebody has to fill in T-mac's spot...

ya it would be nice to see shaq and penny togather, but the problem is shaq has gotten better since he left orl even though hes getten older, ans penny to me has gone down hill, he used to be one of the best pgs and starting, nows hes sitting on the bench in NY, even though he does get playin time, he just isnt as good as he sed to be.

Yeah your right, Shaq has gotten better over the past few years but this last year I think he went down a tiny bit. He wasen't near as dominate, and this could be due to the fact that he wasen't getting the ball enough. It would be nice to see Shaq on another team where he is the complete focus and where can get the ball. Pennys just gone done year but year after shaq left I don't think he was near the same.

Shaq has gotten a lot better since leaving Orlando. The only thing that's gotten worse about his game since leaving is his free throw shooting, but, that started going downhill immediately anyways. Otherwise, he's gotten better in every facet of his game. I think, what slowed him down this year was all the other players demanding more touches. Kobe had to get his share, Payton had to get some, and Malone had to get some. Prior to this year, Kobe and Shaq were each getting the ball fairly equally and that worked nice for them. But, with the addition of Payton and Malone, you knew that one, if not both Kobe and Shaq would lose some touches.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SuperMan:</div><div class="quote_post">An NBA executive said late Wednesday that the Mavericks now would approach the Lakers with a new offer of Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard and the No. 5 pick in exchange for O'Neal.

    </div>

Thanks for the link... I knew this was coming all along. The Lakers are playing leverage mind with the Mavericks and are seeming here to get what they want: The Diggler. Honestly, I don't think noone would believe when Cuban said he wouldn't include Nowitzki in the deal because he is this crazy owner who'll do anything to get his team a championship and Shaq of course is the best solution to that. Heck, he'll include Don Nelson and his son in the trade too if that means Shaq is the new sheriff in Dallas.

As a Laker fan, I like this trade even though losing Shaq would hurt us next year. Long-term wise though I think the Lakers gain more than the Mavericks cause Shaq is wearing down. Josh Howard can be a real solid player if he keeps working hard. I'd prefer getting Marquis Daniels  because that kid's a pure talent, but I guess there is no chance in that. And #5 pick Devin Harris can immediately make impact if Fisher goes and Gary has indeed lost his game. He seems like a real bright kid from my first impression but just like other rookies he's yet to play an NBA game.

Actually, the Dallas front office was arguinbg against Cuban becuase Cuban is so reluctant to let Nowitzki go. The rest of the FO would do it in a heartbeat!

I can't stand any of the Mavs except Daniels and Howard. I would like to see Shaq go to the clips for Brand, Maggette, and Q/ Livingston.

Anyone got a link to justify this?

I think people are getting far too involved in something that's not going to happen. Cuban owns the team. He wants Dirk to stay. There's no more to it than that.

As much as I loathe owner interference, Cuban's a rare exception where I can live with it because he's one of the few owners who is truly involved with his team's management at every level.

If I'm a Mavs fan, I'd be writing letters, screaming in front of the Mavs offices, anything to get thier attention to keep this from happening, at least with Dirk involved.

His defense is suspect, but that can be worked on. Shaq, while still dominant, is aging faster than perhaps any star in the league, from a health standpoint. Dirk's still young and in a few years, when Shaqs gone, this will set as a horrible decision from Mavs fan perspective, IMO.
