It has been reported that Pierce could be headed to the Bulls in a deal which would send the Celts Tyson Chandler and the #3 pick in the draft. Someone i talk to online from chicago heard it on the radio, and said the source was the same guy who reported the chandler/brand, rose/artest/miller, and rose/jyd trades the day before they happened..... Whats everyones thoughts on this? I personally am not a huge fan, though i wouldnt go nuts if it happened, as i do believe in ainge's theory of the team needs a change, but i dont wanna see negative changes... It'd give the celtics a great supporting cast with Chandler, #3 pick, Davis, Welsch, Lafrentz, and those other 3 firsts, but no one person to build around. I guess ainge could be trying to do it the Detriot way, but thats never going to work unless you have some rough interior guys like the Wallace's who Chandler and Raef dont compare to, and Ricky Davis isnt exactly the team player that you'd find on the Pistons. I mean, Tyson Chandler is a bag full of potential, but i dont think he'll ever really live up to it, i just dont see him as a star in this league. And at number three in the draft it was reported that the celts are after Ben Gordon, who i think will be a solid starter butnot a real star, a better version of Tony Delk. I dont know the cap implications, as if the bulls will include another salary filler or so...
I've heard erob is also apparently in the trade as the salary, my friend just head a bit of a convo on the radio, and those were the main names involved... Also there are these thread about it on realgm.com... http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=246579 http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=246564
There would have to be more players involved for it to work out cap wise, but if this trade would happen the bulls would be right back in playoff contention. They would have there first realy legit superstar since jordan. Also they will have a guy that lead his team in points, assists, and rebounds last season. As well as free throw attempts. If I am chicago I would do this in a heart beat.
Before people start jumping out of windows or stockpiling weapons for a run at Ainge, keep this in mind: The legitimacy of this rumor is irrevocably staked to the authors "inside information". That means were not trying to move down to take anyone else but Gordon. He's specifically named by the "source". 1. If Ben Gordon gets taken 3rd, Then I'm going to be scratching my head at why our GM would so highly covet a 6'2" wanna-be pg, with poor shooting habits. 2. This is worse return value than the Walker trade. Half the Bulls fans I've talked to aren't sure that Chandler will ever be the player people think he was going to be coming out of HS. Paul Pierce may be someone that Ainge would trade for the right price, but seriously, does anyone think this is fair market value for Pierce?
heres what the celts gotta do... get in a 3 way with orlando/houston... rockets trade mobley/cato/nachbar to orlando orlando trades mcgrady/howard/lue to houston celtics trade davis/2 first round picks to orlando rockets trade francis to celtics c's lineup pg-francis sg-pierce sf-welsch pf-al jefferson c-raef contenders? what'da think?

Just say NO to the ballhogging me first Francis, we used to have one of those, his name was Walker alias was Mrs. 38%
aww i love stevie franchise (go terps!), and he and pierce i think would be great together... maybe stevie will learn his lesson now that houston's shipping him off to orlando... i thought that was a horrible trade... tracy mcgreedy is even more selfish than stevie! and juwan howard is really old... what were the rockets thinging breaking up stevie and yao! but yeah i have no clue what ainge is doing... but pierce is a beast player; he better stay!

Its Chandlers third year and generally these guys blow up by then. Mcgrady slowly blossomed and Chandler is one that is super athletic and would flourish in a running game. I am hearing the Celtics are very high on Iguodala. He would be the guy they would take if the trade took place. I am curious what kind of cap room would be added in a deal like that. Who knows, maybe we can trade our 15th pick and Ricky Davis to the Bulls for Chandler and the pick. Heck, trade all our picks and Davis for the three and Chandler. We would be a better team with Chandler and Igodala with Pierce. I am expecting Pierce to be dealt at some point. If T Mac is worth Francis and Mobley,Pierce is worth a star quality player. I wouldnt be mad though because I think Chandlers ceiling is very high. I love Deng. I think that guy along with Jameer will be stars in this league. Gotta love the rumors.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Gotta love the rumors.</div> In general, I do, but this draft is getting ridiculous for us. 3 first round picks are bad enough to try and figure out, but adding this Pierce Rumor (which IMO is horrible) just makes it more frustrating. I'll guarantee you one thing though, I'll be on that chat this afternoon.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post"> 2. This is worse return value than the Walker trade.</div> WRONG!!! THATS WRONNNGG!! The celtics traded walker for a nobody and an inconsistant center they KNEW was injured. at least with this trade theyd get a REALLY high draft pick and a guy with serious potential (more than welch for sure.) but like the man said, celtics have denied it. its not gonna happn
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">WEEI has jsut reported that the Celtics have denied this rumor.</div> I also heard this, but Danny Ainge denied the Ricky Davis rumor before also....
I just got off the phone with "the Die-Hards" show (Boston sports). According to this mornings press conference, the trade was a rumor and that Ainge is trying to move up to at least #10 to secure Swift because Utah, among one other suitor who i can't remember right now are interested. <u>OLDSCKOOL:</u> IF you had paid attention to the entire post, you'd know that the original rumor wasn't just about the #3 pick option. They supposedly already had Gordon pegged for it, which makes absolutely no sense for the C's, Hence the return value comment. Not to mention that Chandler and another big salary come with it. If we're talking about a 6'2" guard who most think the best he's going to turn out is Gilbert Arenas and essentially 2 filler's for Pierce, then yes, it's worse value. BTW: LaFrentz passed his initial physical, so I don't know how you can justify saying the C's "Knew he was hurt". Yes, he has an injury history, but so do half the players in the NBA.
As a Bulls fan, i say a big HELL YEAH! But losing Chandler is bad, as he still has this all-star potential, and I still am a big supporter of him and don't wanna give up on him, but for Paul Pierce? I'd do it.
At first I thought this idea was awesome but I'm starting to pull back because I think Chandler could really be something special. He's a defensive presence we need on the Bulls if we want to consider contending for a championship.

Pierce would make you a playoff team just from having him alone like he did boston. Then you have curry who is also a defensive pressence and antonio davis along with JYD.
The trade rumor is completely true. But I'm not sure, I can see it happening. I don't care if we loose Chandler, we are getting the true scorer we need. And a 2 that can finally play some D.
