<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fans were upset that the club is trading McGrady, a popular four-time all-star. Most of the Magic's starting lineup, including McGrady, reportedly are being traded to the Houston Rockets for Steve Francis and center Kelvin Cato and guard Cuttino Mobley. Along with McGrady, forward Juwan Howard and point guards Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines are being shipped to Texas. It doesn't appear to be a very good deal for the Magic. Francis is a problem child with a long contract. He and the rest of the Rockets don't appear to fit the Magic's rebuilding plan. Critics have wondered if more experienced general managers would welcome Weisbrod into their card game, feeling perhaps that he could be fleeced. Maybe Weisbrod is not showing all his cards now. "I don't think anybody is going to put anything over on John," Phoenix Suns General Manager Bryan Colangelo said. "I know he comes from a hockey background and doesn't appear to have NBA experience. But I've dealt with John. He knows what he's doing." Maybe Weisbrod is planning to trade the Rockets players to other teams, or maybe he's trying to smoke out a better deal for McGrady. Last week, Weisbrod vowed that, "We will not make a bad deal." Curiously, Weisbrod would not discuss the proposed trade Monday or Tuesday. He's turned away all interview requests. The mime act is unusual for him. </div> Full Story Glad to see I'm not the only one that hates this deal. There have been reports that this deal might fall through thanks to Francis complaints. Keep complaining Francis.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I've heard some weird things," the player said. "I'm wondering how long the coach will be there, stuff like that. Why is T-Mac out the door like that? Ain't he from around there?" I explained that McGrady and the new GM don't get along. The player interrupted. "Who's the GM?" he asked. "John Weisbrod." "Who's that?" "The team's chief operating officer, a former hockey guy sliding over to do the job." "Really?" There was silence. And then he gave an incomplete laugh. It dripped ridicule.</div> ... Would someone telll me what's the point for trading for Franchise, Mobley and Cato is we are trading away Steve? Who could we trade him for? What NBA team would actually want him? What NBA team would he want? I know what we could do. Tracy could get that contract expension in Houston, and we could trade back  . We'd probably going to give them a couple picks for that...
I'd rather the Magic get nothing then Francis. He is what basketball experts call a loser! That is the absolute worse case scenario. Trade with the Pacers. You will get 2 or 3 excellent players. Question : What did the Magic struggle with last year? Answer: Defend, Trade for Artest and draft okafor, problem solved.
I agree, but I heard Pacers didn't offer Artest .. so Harrington Bender and other guy isn't enough IMO..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting pidandsid:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd rather the Magic get nothing then Francis. </div> Please tell me you are kidding. Can we say Shaq Part II?
Shaq Part 2.. Again for good measure.. Weisbrod is getting serious heat for this. I belive some people are confused.. " Several league executives and player agents were baffled by Orlando's hesitation because Francis would have no choice but to play for the Magic. "John Weisbrod is setting a bad precedent by caving in to this guy," one agent said, referring to Orlando's general manager and speaking on condition of anonymity" That's from the New York Times BTW.. He could be doing a few things, holding out to see if anyone wants to up the Rockets deal, a third team getting involved, waiting till after the draft, or he could just be a idiot. Or he could be finding out what he could get for Francis and Mobley, since they don't want to play here.. BTW I think I should I point out that Francis doesnt wan't to play for a non-playoff team.. He made it clear that he wanted to stay in Houston, and he has nothing against Orlando, Its more of a "I don't deserve to play for a bad team" thing rather than a "Orlando is Terrible, sinking ship team" thing. Not that, that affects my view on him, but hey..
