On Espn the other day, they were saying how Shaq wanted to go to Dallas, and how he wanted to work with Mark Cuban. So the really only way that Shaq can go to Dallas, is if they trade Dirk for Shaq. I know that Dirk is good and everything, but if you want to sell tickets, you keep Dirk, but if you want to win a championship you take Shaq. So i don't think they should pass up a chance to get Shaq.
Dallas said that Dirk is off-limits, but they just traded Antawn Jamison to Washington for the 5th overall pick in the 2004 draft, Jerry Stackhouse, and Christian Laetnner. Dallas is reportedly using the pick to sweeten the deal for Shaq. Now the Shaq to Dallas rumors really heat up

Stackhouse isnt gona look right in a mavs jersey. Also new rumors have popped up that the clips are offering the 4th pick, maggette, and brand for shaq. So he may go there.

With Nowitzki out of the picture, however, everybody else on the roster is game as they attempt to ratchet up enough salaries to reach the $27 million O'Neal made this season. Certainly the fifth pick of the draft is an additional carrot for the Lakers, along with perhaps the bloated final year of Antoine Walker's contract, but where else does this take them? Do they really like Stackhouse enough to part with Michael Finley, along with Walker and the pick? Or does it mean the Lakers -- with general manager Mitch Kupchak, a fellow North Carolina alum with Stackhouse -- prefer Stack in the deal? More likely, neither Stackhouse nor Laettner will unpack in Dallas and they will be moved along shortly for another player or players to package into the deal. Regardless of what happened Wednesday night, this is a classic example of Mavs owner Mark Cuban unleashing the father-and-son duo of Don and Donnie Nelson on the rest of the NBA to reconstruct the team following their first-round elimination in the 2004 playoffs http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/7444968

No way I would give up Dirk for Shaq. Yes, he is the most dominating players in the league but you have to look long term here. Dirk will be here for years to come and will put forth the effort.
Dirk for Shaq would be terrific, and just imagine, we get the better deal in return because for one, Shaq can't play a full 82 games anymore, he's lazy as heck, he fakes injuries, and he whines about not getting the ball as often. Now with all those superstars on that Mavericks franchise that want opportunities, how will they get a fair amount of touches? Plus if Dirk joins the Lakers we get a quality player that can shoot it both from the inside and the outside, and most importantly he's much younger than Shaq, and can contribute more to the Los Angeles Lakers longterm. Yup, Cuban would look foolish making this deal disappointing all the Mavs fans, but as a Laker fan, I'm up for it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting sneballa7:</div><div class="quote_post">Yup the Mavs will definately suffer if this trade happens. The fans will boo Mark Cuban to death</div> I think it would be a great deal, whit shaq and kobe?s duo broken it will give the east a betther chance to win the playoofs again next year.
