ESPN's David Aldridge has reported, that the Knicks & the Mavericks have begun preliminary discussions on a Jerry Stackhouse trade to NY., The Mavs have made a trade to acquire Stackhouse, Laittner & the #5 pick in tommorrow's draft for Jamison. Stackhouse would then come here for Kurt Thomas & a couple of our bad contracts. DA wouldn't say which contracts though. I like Stackhouse alot. When he's healthy he can score. He also plays descent defense. I'm just curious what contracts would go to Dallas?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Knicks Analyst:</div><div class="quote_post">This is really terrible. Just for the record, I DO NOT LIKE THIS TRADE.</div> As much as I hate Kurt Thomas, I would have to agree with you.
Isiah must have something up his sleeve, their is no way Thomas would trade his most productive big without getting a productive bigman in return. Isiah has to have something else plan, his basketball mind is way to intelligent to start a basketball retirement home for washed up bigman(Laettner,Deke, Vin Baker). I dont know what preparing but it maybe something big, so Iam going to sit back & watch Isiah at work. But if he makes to many moves with no bright spot at the end of the tunnel, he could end up the new Scott Layden real quick in NYC, it only takes a few bad deals for the garden to change on him.

I'm hearing this is all contingent on the Mavs getting "The Daddy." Stachouse only makes 7 million, so I'm not sure what contracts would go with Thomas. I'm figuring: Othella Harrington & the foriegn kid we got in the Marbury deal. Yeah Isiah has something up his sleeve, I think so also. But I'm also saying to myself don't do anything, just to make a trade. If there's nothing out there than go with what you have. On paper right now our team isn't that bad: Starbury Houston Tim Thomas/Penny Thomas Mohameed our bench isn't bad either. I would be curious to see that starting 5 together for half a season & see waht happens. It's not like our conference is so dominant, that you need to be 5-10 games over 500 to get into the playoffs.

Yeah, but the Knicks are going to have to finish above .500 this year in my opinion to make sure they can pull out the 4 or 5 seed. If the Knicks finish 6th,7th or 8th in the seeding for the playoff they would likely have to battle either the Pacers, Pistons,or Nets in the 1st round. And they would probably be exiting the payoffs early again.

The only problem is a lot of our players stay getting hurt. Injuries are the only thing I could see happenning that wouldn't get us home court in the 1st Round.. Call me optamistic, sure beats being pesamistic.
If it was not thomas I would like the trade, because I am a big stackhouse fan. I would not want the knicks to trade thomas he has been the only steady rock for the knicks all season. He has always been consistant and played out of position at center for them a couple of years. He has averaged nearly if not a double double the past couple of years. He can shoot a jumper from short range and has a great post up game. Stckhouse would be a great player if you new he would be healthy for the season. With all the question marks on weather he will be able to play all 82 games of the NBA season I wouldnt trade thomas for him. There have been so many rumors about thomas being traded oput of new york during this season and last season. Yet it has never happened. Hopefully this is just another rumor since thomas is a big man that the knicks would need if they were to contend to go deep in the playoffs. Isiah Thomas might just be doing two moves to many if he agrees to this trade those two to many being the van horn dal and this one if it goes down. If they were to include the 5th overall pick then MABYE I might think other wise of the trade.

But so are the Heat & Bucks, so that 4th seed is going to be hard to obtain that's why I say above .500 is a must next year.

Qiuck fixes got us into the position were in right now. Yeah our conference definetly has an upside with the teams you mentioned. Young & Talented. I think though we have good palyers @ every position. Players that if play to capability can get us into a home court 1st Rd game. Only time will tell.
Clearly, the interest in Stackhouse is a clear indication that Allan Houston may not be the player he was before the knee problems. If Allan can't regain his form, the Knicks will need scoring and Stachouse provides that. Mike Sweetney may be ready to assume a bigger role, so that makes Kurt Thomas somewhat expendable.
