<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Several teams spent Wednesday looking into the possibilities of acquiring Heat forward Caron Butler, possibly as part of a trade involving the Heat's No. 19 selection in tonight's NBA Draft. Among those looking into Butler has been the Orlando Magic, which is in the process of trying to trade guard Tracy McGrady and might be interested in moving on players acquired in a potential deal with the Houston Rockets. In addition, there was word that the Cleveland Cavaliers might emerge as a potential trade partner, with their No. 10 selection in play. While Heat General Manager Randy Pfund declined to discuss specific deals, he reiterated that "there are teams in the top 11 or 12 having discussions with their picks. I don't think that's off base." Such a swap to No. 10 would give the Heat a better shot at Mississippi power forward Al Jefferson, a hulking prospect who Pfund acknowledged isn't likely to be available for the Heat at No. 19. The Heat staff scouted Jefferson on Tuesday in Jackson, Miss. A swap of draft picks with Cleveland involving Butler could possibly fetch the Heat center DeSagana Diop or perhaps guard Dajuan Wagner. "I don't want to confirm who we're having conversations about," Pfund said. "My response is if people are doing their due diligence, that probably indicates the interest they have in our players."</div> http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketb...fla-sports-heat
There giving up on Caron already they took a risk drafting him and he was successfull his first season but got injured and he's working his way back to being the player he was before and I can gaurantee this is going to be like Washington and there big men, giving up Sheed and Ben.
I'm happy this didn't happen, I love Caron. I understand he has the better trade value in the team other than Odom and Wade, but he's a proven quantity and not worth giving up to go after some project in the draft. I'll be perfectly happy to wait a couple years until EJ and Grant are off the books if that means we get to keep Butler, Wade and Odom together. Then with all the money Wade can get his max, Butler a decent contract and sign a good big man.
Caron is lost on this current team. I'm a fan of his and I think it would be good for him to have a change of scenary. He has a lineup of 3 other players besides him that are somewhat used to playing SF or SG in the past. Again, I feel that a trade would be good for him.
Uh.. he isn't exactly lost dude. He's a pretty good fit for the Heat, and I dont think he'd want to be part of a semi-rebuilding team like the Orlando Magic after what happened last year...
