Here is what we need to do for next season. 1. Trade Shaq for Fnley, Nowitski, and Nash. Mark Cuban will do anything for Shaq. Since Shaq wants out. 2. Try to trade Gary Payton for a hire draft pick. 3. Get rid of Rick Fox, Horace Grant, and Brian Coak. 4. Sign Kobe Bryant to a large contract he will return. 5. Sign Pat Riley to coach for us. 6. Draft Bernard Robinson Jr. from Michigan. He will be an impact. Lineup pg-Nash sg-Bryant sf-George pf-Medvedenko c- Nowiitski 6- Finley 7- Fisher 8- Walton 9- Russell 10 Robinson
Do you honestly think Cuban will give that much for Shaq? And Finley off the bench instead of George? Nowitzki at center? Kobe wouldn't get to be THE MAN as he wants to be, he still has options like Finley, Nash and Nowitzki to get the ball. Also, Pat Riley expressed he doesnt want to be with the Lakers next year, he's staying with the Heat. None of this is gonna happen.
Trading Shaq to the Mavs would be nice if the Lakers did get Finley, Nash and Nowitzki, but that won't happen because Cuban is looking for a dynasty. I say go after the Magic and try and pick up McGrady and Okafor (or whoever they draft). Obviously it's almost too late to trade for the actual #1 pick...so they'll just wait until after the draft. Okafor has alot of potential, as long as he can stay healthy (his back especially). Sign Kobe for sure...he's the future of this team. Keep Fox, but trade off Cook, Grant and Russell. As for the draft, Robinson? He's too careless with the ball, and his off-court antics could cause him to miss practices. His maturity has been questioned alot...and plus, this guy takes too many mid-range and long-range shots that he knows he can't make. I say the Lakers need to draft David Harrison out of Colorado. He's a 7 footer, and he can block shots and grab boards...he'd be a good backup to Okafor instead of Slava. Then, look for Matt Freije out of Vanderbilt in the second round...maybe trade some players to get a higher pick in the second round to get him. He's a pure shooter, and if anyone watched him in the tourney, he did just that. If not him...get Blake Stepp out of Gonzaga. He can shoot and he could be a good backup to Payton and Fisher, just in case Fisher ends up leaving. Hire Rudy Tomjanovich as the head coach...because he did great with Houston. I know Pat Riley is a good coach too, but Rudy is wonderful and will work wonders in LA. As for trading Payton, maybe keeping him until mid-season is a better idea, because he may do much better since the Lakers won't be running the triangle offense anymore. Then, if it's a lost cause with GP, trade him off fast. Here's my idea of a potential lineup... Payton Kobe McGrady Harrison Okafor And then Fisher, Freije, Walton, George, Slava, and Fox on the bench.
