I have seen Ramos play in person over here in Puerto Rico ... and all i can say is that i am siked about him joining the Wizards next season. He has Great Potential i only see him getting better. Smart pick if you ask me and i pity everyone else who allowed Ramos to pasy by. Just wait and see!!!
He will play 20 games this year, 10.1 minutes a game and average 3.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks a game. I like him though, a huge prospect but can be very good, he's extrmely mobile for a guy his size, and also very atheletic, can take off for dunks from almost the free throw line, throw down alley-oops etc. His team defense and rotation is supposed to be bad, and overall his defense needs work, his league doesn't have defensive 3 in the key so he just stays in the lane and waits to block people. If we can motivate him, and let him develop on the bench, in 2 years he'll be a 10th man maybe, and in about 4-5 years he could give some good production, he's only 18 so then he'll be 22-23.
I dont really expect him to come in and have an immediate impact but trust me after seing him in a few games there is pottential. I say after a few years he could do some damage in that position if he gets bigger ...
I like the move to invest in a young project at center for a couple reasons. First of all, we have no promising centers. Haywood is okay if you want to make the playoffs, but to build a championship team, you need an impact player at center. We don't have any other true centers. Second reason is that it's not easy to go out and acquire a center. Teams guard good centers like Fort Knox and, lastly, there aren't many good centers to go around anyways. Maybe we get lucky with Ramos.
Call me in three years and ask me again, I think we'll be all smiles, this is one of those guys that if you can motivate, wow, you've got yourself a player.
