Is Martin a free agent, (well leaving nets) and if so where are some places he could/would go? cough cough BOSTON
yes he is a free agent but i hope he doesnt go to Boston I heard that Dallas, Denver, and Memphis are making moves to try to get him.
boston!? they are rebuilding not retooling from what i've heard. i highly doubt the nets would let him go to a team in the same division and conference. unless if pierce is involved in the trade, then i would think about it and it would at least give boston a shot to get kmart. but he won't be going to boston...prolly ever
only way nets can controll where k mart goes is if they match the offer. dont be suprised if u see the wizards make a move on him. yes, they have kwame but they wuld move him to center and have haywood off bench. they did just get jamison but cleared much caproom(stackhouse, latener) so they have the money. also they didnt have a 1rst round pick to sign. the wizards have enough scoring in jamison, hughes, and arenas..plus 2nd yr jarvis hayes off bench. now all they need is a proven inside defensive player. hopefully my wizards step it up and sign him...if they do--watch out cause they will defiently be playoff bound. all 5 ppl on there team would be an offensive threat. KENYON MARTIN...a wizarddddd
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting wizardfan00:</div><div class="quote_post"> they did just get jamison but cleared much caproom(stackhouse, latener) so they have the money.</div> Not exactly. For the future the Wiz have saved caproom cause Stack was locked up till 2006 whereas Antawn has a player option at 2008. However, Laettner's contract does end after this season. But nevertheless, the Wizards have saved a little over 600k of capspace as Stack + Laettner = 13 million and Antawn makes 12.6 million. So for this season, the Wizard's shouldve saved around 2 - 4.5 million depending where the salary cap is set. I don't see Wizards being a big contender for Kmart unless it was a sign and trade for Kwame.
K Mart in the Illa Delph would be sick but we don't have the money or the players to go after him really. I doubt they would move him for LiL Dog an Coleman an some other pieces lol .
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NJNetz:</div><div class="quote_post">KMart has to stay a net no matter what.</div> not at the cost of kidd
Kidd can leave as long as you get talent for the future of the team. Kidd has was 2 good season left in him give im to a team that has a really good chance of winning cause this guy really deserves a Championship. Give him to dallas so when Dallas gets Shaq, they can get Kidd (because kidd already said he wants to play on a team with a big man and almost did when we got Alonzo but that was short lived) and he can throw Alley-oops to him and Nowitzki now how exiciting is that. But i would love to see kidd stay but improve the talent around him. If they cant do that and they decrease the talent around IE trading kittles for a mediocre player wont do. So if you get players around him then good if not your going to have to build around RJ and KMart and Jason Kidd is not in that equation.
Kidd tried the Dallas bid, Don Nelson traded him. I doubt he'll go back to Dallas, especially since he can't shoot well enough for the Don Nelson system.
Thats true but he did make a try last season to go back there when he went to talk to cuban and then visited the spurs at the same time, but it was going to be a sign and trade for steve nash and raef lafrentz but it never went through cause we signed Zo so Kidd like aite i'll sign with the nets and the spurs were going to do a sign and trade with the nets last year but that never happened. now the reason for kidd to stay is gone and Kmart might be gone to what is the purpose of him staying. Because he didnt sign for this. He signed thinking the team was going to stay together with the addition of Zo. And the only reason Zo signed with the nets was cause of Kidds wife talk to zo and told him that her husband would only stay if he signed with the nets and that they together could make a good run together for the Title casue they had common goals. and the only reason they fell short last year for the title was the lack of a real center.
yes actually they will trade kidd to keep martain. lateest news says he guna go talk to the hawks i think that a lot of teams will go after him. another rumor is that they are actually shoppin kidd the fact that martain still has about 10 more seasons in him while kidd only has 2 so they are shoppin him. they said theywere in talk with the grizzles for a sign in trade involving swift and others and they were in talk with denver for a sign and trade with nene

Kidd was traded by Frank Zackanelli because he had a run in with Jim Clemons (coach at the time). Don Nelson has said publicly that that trade was a huge mistake for the Dallas organization, even though Finley has become a very consistent player and team leader for Dallas. Another thing to consider, it is unlikely that Kenyon Martin would sign with another team that has cap room since the Nets would be able to match the offer. More likely, a sign and trade would be made. I've heard talk that Dallas would be very interested in bringing Kenyon home. Any idea what players the Nets would want for him? (Walker, Howard, Devin Harris, Stackhouse?)

No one really fits the bill of tough defense and driving to the basket. I don't like the idea of converting to the jump shooting team. Shooters are neccessary but a plethora of them isn't the answer. Unless we can get Dirk back for Kmart then I don't want to let him go to Dallas.

But everyone also needs a few wicked shooters. The Mavs have about a dozen of the later. Sure would be nice to get at least one of the former. KMart is high on my list of that kind of player. Comment on the Nets: Harris and Kittles have nice strokes. Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin aren't very effective unless they are taking it to the hoop. As long as they can run, they are a good team, but it is too easy to keep a team from running. Either Jamison or Walker would have given them a little offensive diversity.

It seems as if Ratner wants to keep only one of the two (KMart or Kidd). BTW, KMart isn't going to the Hawks. He already said that he doesn't want to go to a losing team coz he's a sore loser.
K-mart has already arranged to visit the Hawks, doesn't matter what he has stated about playing for losing teams Money can quickly change players minds. ESPN stated Utah are the main contenders to sign K-mart, Denver also have alot of interest. It's most likely one of those teams will offer him the max, somehow I don't expect NJ to match
Well the Hawks had tried in the past to "change a player's mind" with money to no avail. Hopefully it still holds true for KMart.
