There has been a lot of complaining from other Bulls fans about selecting Gordon. Some like the Gordon/Deng draft, others don't. Here is why its a good thing for Chicago: To improve your roster, you need to add more talent. Gordon is going to be an impact offensive player. Deng gives us a better SF option. Both should see playing time, thus reducing the playing time of role players Linton Johnson and Jannero Pargo. Replacing them with Deng and Gordon is an upgrade. So, at worst, we have a better banch. But let's break this down a little further. Hinrich, Crawford, and Gordon will form a good backcourt. Crawford and Gordon can provide shooting and scoring. Hinrich and Crawford provide good ballhandling. There are 96 minutes to be played at the guard spots. Meaning, each guard could receive 32 minutes a game. Gordon's offense should be a valuable asset to a team in desperate need of more scoring. We concluded the season with Linton Johnson as our starting 3. Deng is more taleneted. Deng played major minutes, at a major university, for a great coach. Obviously, he has talent, and is more talented than Johnson. Is he ready to start? In a perfect situation, no. But with no other viable option, he can. How can we better improve? Two simple transactions: Resign Crawford and offer the MLE to Stephen Jackson. We cannot let Crawford walk. We need to build upon our draft. Drafting Gordon and letting Crawford go, basically cancels out. We are trying to build upon our team from last season. Gordon does that, IF we retain Crawford. Paxson has stated the Bulls intend to resign him; we shall see. Signing Stephen Jackson gives the Bulls a 3/2 that can defend and shoot. It also allows Deng to come off the bench, giving him time to learn and develop, and in the meantime, we have the athletic wing we have been looking for. Our roster would look, as follows: Hinrich(32)/Crawford(16) Crawford(16)/Gordon(32) Jackson(32)/Deng(16) Chandler(30)/Williams(18) Curry(30)/Davis(18) Our rotation would be 9 men, and each would fit nicely. More importantly, our reserves would be Gordon, Deng, Williams, and Davis. Last year, we relied upon Johnson, Dupree, Fizer, and Pargo. The bench this year would be better than last year. Not to mention an upgrade at SF, and the continual development of our players. It all starts with retaining Crawford......
I would really love having this, but I think Deng could stand a few more minutes a game, so he can get around 20 or so. This team could go to the playoffs, but then again, we were supposed to last year, but i think this team could win lower-to-mid 30's. Out of this, we finally get the swingman we so sorely need, depth, and shooting, having this team i'd be very excited.
I'd rather see Gordon start over JC, JC was supposed to be a break out player last year but he wasnt and I doubt he will be this year. Pargo was the best pick up in the league other than probably Marquis Daniels. Pargo staying is a good thing but if the Bulls let this guy walk there making a real big mistake. JC should be involved in a sign and trade to get a big man like Sweetney or someone bigger better and proven. I dont think JC should stay in Chi-Town it would be better if Pargo stays, Pargo has a pass first mentality because he knows his shot needs work leading to more development of Ben Gordon. The three gaurd rotation should Involve Pargo coming off the bench and Gordon starting.
in a way, gordon and deng were great picks, gordon won the ncaa championship last year and deng's team lost to gordon's team...look at carmelo and richard hamilton, juan dixon is breaking out, jay williams, elton brand, keith van horn, etc...this is recent of course.

saad is right jc is awesome, and i like the analysis by vintage, but playoffs are maybe still a bit of a stretch..one thing at a time, if the team clicks that would be awesome, yet i don't think a lot of the starters would want to play so little time, even though it would be good for the team, oh well let's see what happens. The draft was awesome for the bulls
no i think the playoffs are very reachable for the bulls with skiles as the coach for the entire season, not just half of it. remember, this is the east, the miami heat finished second in their division, and they got 4th seed, utah and portland in the west had almost the same wins, they didn't even make it to the top 8...the celtics won only 36 games to clinch the 8th seed...the bulls can beat these teams, so the playoffs are very realistic. JC had to carry the load on offesne almost every night, he's in his early 20s, can shoot and score. he's not a project, we know what he can do, we have seen his potential and he's just going to get better. with more offensive options and curry developing into the player we all hoped for, JC will get better, better shot selection and less pressure on him. him and hinrich led the team in minutes played. JC averaged 17.3 ppg last season. that is good. when the bulls needed a shot, i wanted JC to get the ball and was confident that he would do the right thing, we couldn't say that from '98-'02. thing is, i have a feeling he might be gone, wether a trade or FA, but i hope not. and he's not a ballhog either, he makes good passes and when he's hot, then he'll shoot it, like what everyone would do. he can create his own shot, and is a great one-on-one player. he is a star.

Sure, he can drop 40 occasionally, but he also gives up about that much too. Before he can become a star, he needs to show something on the defensive end of the court. There are too many people here enamored with JC. For some reason(I suspect age), JC is viewed as god-like. Is it because he can handle the ball well? Is it because he can OCCASIONALLY put up a great game? What is it? JC should be kept however, because he still is young and can improve...but also, at the current moment, is our best player on offense, which really says something about the pitiful state we are in.

Wouldnt it be nice to see Quentin Richardson back in Illinois? He's a free agent and I doubt he wouldnt want to come to Chi-Town. Man would that be awesome, but it would be awesomer if there was a DQ combo back here, Bring DARIUS MILES. I know I'm dreaming but there both FA right?
Yeah, I'd like to have Quentin back here, he's a great person to have in community. I don't think Miles would be as good of a pickup as Stephen Jackson though. The Bulls should really try to land a good PF, SF, and backup center to help out Curry. The team would definitly have a great chance of making the playoffs.
