pierce trade "not hapening" Ainge says Pierce trade is 'not happening' Associated Press Posted: 2 days ago Boston Celtics head of basketball operations Danny Ainge shot down a report, published in Chicago, that he had struck a deal to send Paul Pierce to the Chicago Bulls for Tyson Chandler, the No. 3 overall pick and change. "It's not happening," Ainge said. Said new Celtics coach Rivers: "No one's untouchable, but Paul is as close to untouchable as you're going to get." Rivers knows how he wants to change the Celtics, whether it's through a trade, free agency or Boston's three first-round picks in Thursday's NBA draft. "We have to instigate a lot more," Rivers said, searching for a way to challenge his team without questioning its toughness. "I think we were the team that got punched. I didn't like that." Rivers was hired in April after the Celtics' season ended, but he didn't report to work full time until after completing his job as a TV analyst during the NBA Finals. It was there that he watched the Detroit Pistons upset the superstar-laden Los Angeles Lakers for the title. The Pistons may not have been as rough as they were in their "Bad Boys" incarnation of the late 1980s, but no one would say they were afraid to instigate, either. "It's a copycat league," Rivers said. Rivers has been leaving a lot of the draft scouting to Ainge and his staff, instead scouting his own team. Watching last season's Celtics games on tape, he came to the same conclusion as Ainge and many Boston fans. "Tell you what," Rivers said, "some bad games in there." The Celtics made the playoffs despite losing five of their last six games, posting a 36-46 record that was good enough for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. They were swept by the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Ainge has been making over the team for a year, and the draft will only be a part of it. The Celtics have the 15th, 24th and 25th picks in the first round; the first is theirs, the second came in the deal that sent Antoine Walker to Dallas and the third for shipping Mike James to the Pistons. Rivers and Ainge agreed that the draft is deep with talent but lacking a LeBron James-style superstar. "I think it's going to be one of those drafts where, 10 years from now, there's going to be a ton of guys still playing in the league," Rivers said. Ainge could be interested in Robert Swift, a 7-foot high school center from Bakersfield, Calif. Ainge acknowledged the rumors but also said no one knows what he is thinking. Ainge said his goal for the draft was to come up with another point guard to complement Marcus Banks, and to add size. He also said that everyone the team drafted should be tough. Ainge also reacted to the loss of Brandon Hunter to the Charlotte Bobcats in Tuesday's expansion draft. Hunter wasn't going to get substantial playing time in Boston this season, though he might have in the future if he continued to develop, Ainge said. "He was the odd man out," Ainge said. http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2515782
Jackson won't happen, he wants to play for a championship team only. Al harrington would be great, he could start and then we would have Deng off the bench.
jackson has said he likes paxson and skiles, they were there in phoenix. i think he might want to be noticed, he did great in atlanta but noone cares about the hawks, playing with the bulls, they could easily make the playoffs and jackson would be more noticed. he's on a championship team, he'll be in the shadows of the superstars, even though they say they want to play for a championship team, it comes down to recognition and money.
the main teams jackson is considering are the spurs (played with them beofre joining the hawks), blazers, pacers, and bulls. i think that IF the pacers lose artest, o'neal, harrington, then they'll pursue jackson because if he joins them, he might not get enough shots as desired. the blazers have no chance of wining the finals anytime soon and he played with the spurs so i think it's down to the spurs and bulls. if he said he wanted to play for a championship team, he would have never considered the bulls in the first place. playing in the east, he has a better shot of winning it rather than a tough west.
Ainge wants a tough point guard and he trades Burks?? Jerry West is totally impressed with the guy, he will be most likely JWill's backup next season.
Stephen Jackson is out of the pictue he has been in a sign in trade with indiana the deal was that jackson goes to the pacers and al harrington goes to the hawks thats all finalized now to. Also Paxson is way to bad of a gm to get someone thats a good player all around cause it seems to me paxson will keep getting players that only can do one thing and are total busts at anything else examples: Eddy Curry - Great Offensive low post player, but cant shoot cant defend, rebound and others Tyson Chandler-Great Rebounder/blocker but cannot score unless he dunks or lays it in an if he couldnt do that at that hieght he shouldnt play basketball
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King Syxx:</div><div class="quote_post">Tyson Chandler-Great Rebounder/blocker but cannot score unless he dunks or lays it in an if he couldnt do that at that hieght he shouldnt play basketball</div> well in that case, guys not named garnett, duncan, shaq should all be out of the league. some guys get drafted because they are 7 feet tall.
No see there a differance shaq has amazing feet movement on offense kg has a good mid range shot ans also can pass as good as most players in this league Duncan has the best close shots in the game, the one he uses the backboard for thats why those guys average about 20 something points per game not 7.4 in the case of chandler
