I'm a bigtime sonic fan :pimp: but I'm getting sick of all this anticipation. [IMG] I know this is off topic, but...

If any of you saw this you would think it's a joke. Public enemy got #2? Cypress Hill at #30something? It's a sham, a mockery, a shamockery! [IMG] [IMG]

    here's my list: :headphone
    1. Naught'y by Nature: So many great hits, still goin' today :king:
    2. Cypress Hill: They ate the world
    3. Eminem: Says it like it is
    4. Outkast: Most creative, thier underground work was awesome
    5. Ludacris: There's always a new Luda song out
    6. Beastie Boys: Take out the dude with the high pitched voice and their #2
    7. Notorious B.I.G.: Owned the game during his time
    8. Tupac: this guy delivered a great message
    9. Tribe called quest: heard ALL their songs and not just thier hits
    10. Run DMC: the Chick Hearns of rap
    11. Busta Rhymes: He was the craziest, and his songs always pumped me up
    12. Ja Rule: great vocal singer lol
    13. Dr. Dre: Pretty much the Godfather of rap
    15. De La Soul: Thier worst song is just as good as their best(consistent)!
    16. Snoop Dogg: been in the game for like 20 years now
    17. Public Enemy : this is more like it
    18. Will Smith: Just the two of us, Miami, MIB, love the speed racer shirt
    19. Murphy Lee: Great future
    20. Obie Trice: should move up after a few years
    21. Mobb Deep: Most underated IMO
    22. Ice cube: most p!ssed off rapper
    23. Nas: Him and JayZ are both way too overated
    24. The Fugees: Lauren Hill and who else?
    25. Jay Z: 3 hit wonder IMO [IMG]
    26. Wu Tang Clan: Redman and Method man are starting a show I think(?)
    27. NWA: Nonstop White Attacking [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] :police:
    28. Hot Karl: underground white rapper. (hotkarl.com, click media)

Nelly, bubba sparxxx, jkwon, da brat, LL COOL J, goldie loc, knocturnal, coolio, young wunz, yin yang twins : all in shaquille oneals league.

And how did LL Cool J get top 10? What a joke! [IMG]

Ciga, you rated Ludacris above Tupac? Are you insane?!?! I mean Luda is funny and all but Tupac is revolutionary.

I'd rank the top 5 of all time as follows...

    1. Tupac
    2. Jay-Z
    3. Notorious B.I.G
    4. Eminem
    5. Nas

Not to mention he left Rakim off the list...

I'm not much for mainstream rap. My list would include guys like:

KRS-One, Mos Def, Aesop Rock, Slug, Aceyalone, Black Thought, and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. The only mainstream guys I could think of adding right now are Eminem, Will Smith (for his earlier days as the Fresh Prince) and Tupac.

Yeah, I'd like to echo Casual's thoughts... Obviously we have different tastes ciga, but I don't rate about 25 of those guys.

My top 5 would probably consist of Jurassic 5, Public Enemy, Atmosphere, Nas and the WuTang Clan. Hard to go past the Beasties and The Streets, also. I prefer substance over bling.

May I suggest to you Yankee guys Hilltop Hoods (Australia) and Scribe (NZ)... Get into it.

That's one act I do like. I love a few Tupac songs, and a few Naughty by Nature tunes, but in general rock is my forte (nothing too heavy, though, i'm usually quite mellow in my tastes.)

    Outkast however, I adore.

Ok that's cool but does anyone agree that LL Cool J is a below average rapper? I'm not trying to pull a Rush Limbaugh but old rappers get too much respect. So do ded rappers like tupac and notorious b.i.g.. I like listening to Ludacris more than tupac, and Rakim? The guy never impressed me. can nobody come up with a list past five here?

LL Cool J is average. I think Ludacris is one of the worst rappers of all time, if not the worst.

It all depends if your going by record sales, the most influential and trend setting, or quality.

For most influential you can include names like RUN-DMC, LL Cool J, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy etc.

Making a top 5 would be tough, because it can be based on so many things, and opinions.

    1. Tupac
    2. Biggie
    3. Nas
    4. Guru
    5. Rakim

^That probably wouldn't be my specific top 5, because many people could argue and completely shut me down as to why it could be different. There can be many categories under "great" which is why I find it really hard to make a top 5. Especially when hip-hop has changed quite a bit since it began.

    1. Pac
1a. Biggie (better lyricist than Pac, but lacked the content of Pac)

    3. Rakim
    4. Nas
    5. Mos Def
