i think he's done a great job with the bulls. he makes them work hard. if you don't play hard in practice or during the games, he'll sit you. the bulls have been playing a lot better late in games. before the bulls just played the first half and didn't even show up in the second half with cartwright and floyd. now, they are in every game if it's close, for the most part. even though other were available, skiles was a good choice.
No, they still have problems in the second half, just not as badly. Cartwright did a horrible job with Kirk Hinrich, Skiles will turn him into a superstar so I have to really say that he's a great coach. And yes, he is tough, which is great. I love that he is a perfectionist in many ways, reminds me of Larry Brown a bit, only very aggressive.
yeah i said they are playing better in the second half and staying in the close games til the end FOR THE MOST PART, but that should improve.
That isn't a main concern, which is why I didn't have much to say of it. The Bulls only failed to continue playing hard is because they really had no bench that could be reliable. With these draft picks, and a lot of new guys coming in through free agency, Pax will give the Bulls a bench to help out the big starters.
I think Skiles makes a good coach for the Bulls but I'm not gonna go on and call him great until the Bulls make it to atleast a 41 win season, which looks likely next year with Hinrich,Gordon,Deng, and Co. But I think he is a real good fit for the Bulls.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting M Two One:</div><div class="quote_post">...and a lot of new guys coming in through free agency, Pax will give the Bulls a bench to help out the big starters.</div> like who? i know several are on the list, but who do you think will most likely sign with the bulls? i know most of those guys are big-bodied guys who can play tough defense, hustle, and get rebounds. those guys and jackson are the ones on the list, so hopefully some decent ones and jackson could sign. not many people will sign because of the bulls reputation after the jordan-era, but hopefully with the current guys they have, coach and paxson, maybe they can sign a few decent players.
Yes very true, the post-Jordon era has been bad, but remember, most of the bad deals and moves were done by Krause before he left his job. Now that Pax is behind management, I'm sure they might land some better players. We must look at Hinrich, not many expected him to do much in his first year. Pax and Skiles really built him into a future star by making him work so hard. They've inspired Chandler and Curry to work very hard this off season on perfecting their game, this may draw the attention of some really good players in free agency. Jamal Crawford is said to most likely re-sign with the team to make that great rotation of the backcourt, but of course, that remains to be seen on paper. But the Bulls have some other great guys out there, mostly in need of a back up center and a starting power forward IMO. I think Stephen Jackson would be a great pick up if they can sign him. We also must remember that Paxson is very confident on the production of Curry and Chandler, hopefully he's correct. I think adding a center and power forward in addition to Jackson would be great. If Kenyon Martin isn't so focused on such a big contract deal, then the Bulls could pick him up. It is slightly possible, but I highly doubt it and it wouldn't be wise to persue him if he wants that really long contract deal. Carlos Boozer would also be a great edition at the PF spot, but I'm sure he will resign with the Cavs. Other guys that would be good pickups to look at would be Brian Cardinal, Erick Dampier, Antonio McDyess, Darius Miles, and maybe Marcus Camby. Depending on what they want for a contract deal, we also must remember that Pax might only sign two or three guys. I'm not sure of any other key power players that are available. For just random players, I'd like to have Quentin Richardson back in Illinois. heh
i didn't know camby was a possibility. dampier most likely will go to a winner, like the lakers or mavs or whatever involving the shaq trade. if the bulls can get camby and he stays healthy, that would be so huge for them. you get a little scoring, a ton of rebounds and blocks. camby averages a double-double and gets more blocks than cardinal. plus, camby is more athletic, signing camby would be great. getting camby and jackson would be a good thing for the bulls.
I liked bill cartwright over skiles because cartwright looks funny during the bulls games, always an angry fella.. Skiles benched crawford too many times during the end of the season for me to like him, sure crawford shot the ball, but that's how you score points...
You don't score by missing too many shots, that's why Chicago doesn't want Iverson, heh. Those type of shooters don't fall into the Chicago system until the Bulls find their defensive aspect, which they haven't, which is why Crawford was benched. Easy to figure out.

You know, I wish I could become an NBA analyst, would be great. You wouldn't be bad yourself, they need two to argue over what's best, lol. But as I said, the reason he benched Crawford was for shot selection and the fact the Bulls suffered on defense last season. Of course, Jamal was just trying to make the team come back or remain in the lead, but it was all they could do.
i think this is the main reason why he got fired from the suns, not playing enough players, he's not a horrible coach IMO, hes better compared to what we CAN get. because lets be honest, who really would want to be a head coach for this team anyways and ruin their reputation?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting FireSkiles:</div><div class="quote_post">FireSkiles.com - Join the movement.</div> like i said above, if we do fire him, who will want to coach this team?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NikeAir8:</div><div class="quote_post">Fire Layden.... Fire Skiles... We need to go to tha games and say this </div> i used to go to few games when cartwright was coach, and i was in hearing distance, 7th row right behind the bench. back then, it used to be the visiting team's bench but now its the bulls. but even if i go, wouldnt say anything, becuase i think hes doing a pretty nice job. not really his fault if the players are garbage (chandler and curry). OT: whoever thinks phil jackson was a great coach is an idiot.
skiles would make a great assistant coach but just think if we had another coach.... Phil Jackson anyone?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NikeAir8:</div><div class="quote_post">skiles would make a great assistant coach but just think if we had another coach....
