why is that everyone seems to hate kieth van horn? i have heard no good things about him. he has been a consistent good player his entire career. averages double figures for any team, good shooter from the field and free throw, good rebounder and even led utah to the ncaa championship game against kentucky, he played very well for all the teams he played for, but i don't understand why he has played for so many teams...here are his career stats. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stat...cs?statsId=3169 [who was he traded for? he was picked second by the 76ers but played for the nets]
Probably lack of defense. He's got power forward size and a nice shooting touch. He's a potent scorer and good rebounder. But he also happens to be very streaky at times. I don't think he's bad I just think he's overpaid and terrible on defense and he's inconsistent. I think he's on the bucks now traded for Tim Thomas to New York.

I forget the exact transactions, but I know that the latest that he was on the Knicks and then went to the Bucks in a trade for Tim Thomas.
I tried digging it up, unfortunately all I could come up with was that the draft rights were traded to the Nets :[ But KVH is a tough fit for most teams. He is capable of all-star numbers, but isn't a complete package.. Though he presents huge matchup problems, it goes both ways.. the PF spot is too tough for KVH's defense, and most SF's will blow right by him.. This makes him a huge liability. There's also been some talk that he never really fits in with his team either (chemistry-wise)
I remember when he just came into the league that ppl compared him to Larry Bird so he had some over the top expectations. But he is a good solid player. He's doing what I expected from him. Didn't expect nothing to great from him. Just a solid contributor.
People like to rip on him because he plays very soft on the defensive end. He is not an aggressive defender at all. In fact, it doesn't seem like he even tries to be a good defender at times (lol, would fit perfect as a Mav). Granted he has good offensive skills and a great shooting touch for someone who stands 6'10", he needs to play on the defensive end and be more consistent. Those are the reasons why people rip on him.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Draft rights traded by the 76ers with Lucious Harris, Don MacLean and Michael Cage to the New Jersey Nets for Jim Jackson, Eric Montross and the draft rights to Tim Thomas and Anthony Parker</div>Found here. He does deserve more credit than he gets imo.
if he's been on so many teams because of his bad defense, then why not a western team pick him up for his offense?
honestly because hee plays like a girl. ive never seen him get a rebound play good defense or take a charge. hes soft. he should join the wnba
The reason people knock him is because he never lived up to the franchis billing that wa given to him coming out of Utah. Alot of people (like former Net Jason Williams) was saying he was the next larry Bird. Also the fact tat he cam out the same year as Duncan('97). And everybody was calling those two the best thing in the draft in alot of years. And it look like Van Horn was well on his way to achieving that superstar status after is 1st two season in the league. But a bunch of tic-tac injuries. And then a lack of production in the playoffs people started to question his heart. He was called out by his teammates in the past like Kenyon Martin after the Lakers finals or Steph in the 99' season, which just led to the fire that Van Horn had no heart. So in many people eyes Van Hor went from potential superstar to NBA bust especially now due to the fact he got traded to 3 different teams in a spand of 2 seasons. I think Van Horn has put together a pretty solid career everybody was expecting Van Horn to be a go to guy. But in reality, he is a 3 or maybe even 4th option on a good team. Their going to be some nights where he gives you 20pts & other nights where he struggles to get 8pts, thats just the player Van Horn is. But he can stretch the Defense with his shooting range. And is pretty productive on the boards for someone who spends so much time on the perimeter. He isnt a great defender but he shows alot more effort on defense then peopl give him credit for, imo. If he would have spent more time early in his carer working on his gam with his back to the basket, then he would have become a better player at creating his own shot. Which would have maybe made him & all-star type player. But Van Horn is solid, not the special player lots of people predicted, just decent.
How can you expect consistency from Van Horn when no team will let him start? When traded to the Bucks, they didnt even give him a shot to start, they brang him from the bench right away. He would have his good games, and his off games, but you cant get into a groove without getting minutes every game.
So I looked into his career stats to see this thing that you stated about him not starting ever in Milwaukee. Truth is, of the 25 regular season games they played, he started 15 of them and averaged 15.7 ppg in 30.6 mpg. So, to say he wasn't getting minutes is a total lie. And, in the 5 postseason games Milwaukee played, 5 games, 2 starts for Van Horn. So, he started in almost 2/3 of their games. And, in the postseason, he did disappear. Only shot 33% (16/48) from the floor and 36% (4/11) from 3 pt range. All this in about 28 mpg. So, given minutes in the playoffs, he gave them close to nothing. 8 ppg for that matter. That's why no one wants him at times. When it counts most, he disappears. And, quite frankly, there isn't much of anything that matters more in the NBA than winning in the playoffs, and, when you can't produce for your team, you're not gonna be played or wanted for that matter. One last thing, to show how good he is overall in the playoffs. In regular season, 17.5 career ppg average, playoffs drops almot 6 ppg to 11.7. That's why. He totally disappears when you need him the most. These, to me, are the reasons why he has been on 3 teams in 2 years and already 4 teams in his 7 year career.
I think he's still a great player there's no doubt about that. What's wrong with him? I don't know, I guess not livin up to people's expectations? Also he looks like he's got cancer or some sh!t.

Keith's 3s are either 'hit or miss'. I'd know this, living in Philly and all... Thats sort of how most of his games are too. He can get 20 points one game, then shoot 2-10 the next game scoring 4 points. It doesn't help that he's a 6'10" softie either. The only one that has the ability to get away with that is Dirk Nowitzki, and trust me, he's no Dirk Nowitzki...
He plays real soft, i went to a mavericks-sixers game and the one play that sticks out in my mind was one of the last plays of the game (mavs were winning like 115-85) and he goes up like he is going to dunk it and instead finger rolls it. It doesnt make it over the front of the iron, and you should have heard the boo's. You are 6'10", you are down by 20 points, give the crowd something to cheer about. Not really important, just stuck out in my head as a really soft play from a really soft player. I dont think he is that bad, i just dont think he is that good either.
You know he makes as much money as Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady? Overpaid. That makes him unattractive.
