i have seen the first-round picks the boston celtics have made, and it seems like the recent draft has never been good, for whatever reason (exclusing the '80 season where they got bird, mchale, and cowens ALL hall of famers). only good picks they seem to get were paul pierce (still with the team surprisingly but might change soon regardless of what ainge says), and maybe rick fox and dee brown (rick fox is now a very-little used role player who might retire soon and dee brown is gone). we all know what happened to len bias and reggie lewis. antoine walker? gone; did play a lot for them and played well for the most part, but not the type of player the celtics hoped he would be, a superstar player to build a team around. jerome moiso? who cares. ron mercer? gone. billups? NBA champion with the pistons; given only one season to play with the celtics. kedrick brown? gone very quick. joseph forte? joseph forte? who knows? 2002? none. troy bell? didn't play for them. dahntay jones? dion't play for them. jon barry? didn't play for them. eric montross? played 2 season in boston. joe johnson? this guy is becoming a star in phoenix with marbury finally gone, and looks like he'll be a great player fopr any years to come. seems like if they don't put up hall of fame numbers very quick, they are gone. i'm a bulls fan, so i don't know too much about the celtics history, but from this raw picture, this is what i'm getting, after 1980, just bad draft picks from management.
If there's any curse, it's been with the people who we've foolishly hired to run things, something that I believe is now over(thank god). Like most teams, we've been hit and miss on player selections (the drafts not a science). Problem is, the twits entrusted to do something with that talent have sent it out of here without giving the players enough time to develop. Now those players are elsewhere and it seems like everytime they play us, those players play out of thier minds and stick it to us. Man I hate Pitino and OB.
