I had been hearing for a while that he was interested in Houston. Is he a free agent this summer, and if so is he still looking to sign with Houston and is Houston interested?

he's a power forward who played center for phoenix last year out of sheer necessity. I hope we re-sign him. Whoever gets him is getting a much matured player who has a good outside shot, crashes the boards, and plays good defense. Solid guy.

Houston, NY, and Phoenix are the contenders that I know of.

if he can stay healthy, he is a hell of a player... he was destined to be a legit 20-10 career player before injuries caught up to him... i would like to see him play alongside yao

i think its one of the great injustices that he got injured [IMG]

this guy was a superathlete. We're talking about a guy who could jump up and grab the top of the backboard !

Would love to get him in Seattle, but we'd be relying on Barry not coming back, and in that likely case, would only be able to offer him the exception.

Yea McDyess really played well, the guy was killero n the baords, he can still give you offense if needed and is still showing signs of the good defender he is.
I'd like to have him on any team for the right price, he's still worth a decent amount though as long as he's injury free.

He also wants to be in NJ to be reunited with Kidd. We need him, but his injuries are too much of a risk.

for a player who relied so much on athleticism throughout his career, I doubt any teams are going to risk signing him to a long contract. They'll probably bring him in for 1 year to see how much of his game is left. I'd like to see him in Houston but not if he's going to sit on the bench in his civvies.

It would benefit the Rockets a lot. McDyess has probably gotten worse since his last season as a Nugget and his rank as a top 5 power foward has drastically descended, but he still has game despite not showing it in the past 2 seasons. If he can stay healthy, the Rockets might be a championship contending team next season.

yeah, I really think he would be an excellent addition to Houston's new roster...

    C - Yao
    PF - McDyess
    SF - JJ/Howard
    SG - T-Mac
    PG - Lue/Fisher??

anyone who pays him more than the vets minimum at this point in his career is nuts. that being said, there are plenty of teams with cap space out there, hopefully his desire to play at home will give the rockets a hometown discount. i think he will end up being a reserve on next years rockets teams simply because 1. yao and tmac 2. hometown

Veteran Minimum? Mcdyess? I don't think so.

If this guys body allowed him to play 30 minutes a game he's be putting up something like 11 points, 8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks. That's not veteran minimum production, Mcdyess can be a very good player for any team.

That's a big 'if', though. You can't pay too much for a guy with an extensive history of injury problems, regardless of what he's capable of producing when healthy.

Very true, I don't think you should pay him big bucks, but at least 3 million, but veteran's minimum is like an insult to him.

No you're right, I would think a team would offer him a large chunk of the exception if he gets the OK from medical staff.

I wouldn't put out anything more than the vet min. Why would u he hasn't proved he can be healthy. A giant injury risk with a cap G. It would be nice to have him but u never know. The next time down the court he could be done for the season. He is like G Hill per say.

they should make his contract heavy in the back end and very light in the beginning stages, but give the team an option for the second or third year, that way, if he doesn't prove he can stay healthy, the team can release him
