<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Smith played more than any rookie on the Memphis roster this past season, even after missing 53 games with right knee tendinitis. The 6-8, 225-pound forward averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds and earned regular time as the Grizzlies were fighting in the Western Conference playoff race. </div> Link This surprised the hell out of me. I felt like Bell would only be looked over for Dahntay Jones, but I never expected them to take Smith. The positives for Smith are than he's the most NBA-ready of the three rookies and has the shortest contract as well. Last season he was the best rookie on the Grizzlies by far. He was sort of a surprise to most Memphis fans, because his college career was numbed by injuries. However, before that injury some mock drafts had him in their lottery. He still has that sort of potential.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TwinTowers:</div><div class="quote_post">What is Smiths first name?</div> Smith's first name is Theron - Theron Smith. If you follow college basketball, he was the main reason the Ball State was a top fifteen team for most of the 2002 season. Both Ball State's elite status and Smith's draft lottery status went away when he injured his knee though. Most people expected him to never fully recover. Luckily, Smith went undrafted and West picked him up through free-agency. Had Smith stayed another year in college <font size="1">(he had another year of eligability due to his injury)</font> I believe he would have been a first rounder.
