Trade To Be Official On Wed. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Francis Accepts Trade for McGrady By Greg Sandoval Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, June 29, 2004; Page D01 The prospect of playing alongside high school star Dwight Howard and an easier road to the playoffs were enough to persuade Houston Rockets guard Steve Francis to drop his objections to a trade that would send him to the Orlando Magic for NBA leading scorer Tracy McGrady, according to his agent. The Magic is expected to announce the trade, which was held up a week after Francis balked at playing for the last-place team, on Wednesday, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. Francis, a three-time all-star, is flying to Orlando today to meet with the Magic's management, including President John Weisbrod, the man who persuaded Francis to move to Orlando. Under the terms of the trade, the Magic will send guard McGrady, forward Juwan Howard and guard Tyronn Lue to the Rockets for Francis, guard Cuttino Mobley and center Kelvin Cato, said the source. </div> Full Story Looks like it's a done deal now. Also looks like Francis is gonna be here to stay. But I can definitely see Mobley being dealt. Hopefully we get a big man for him as we have too many Small Forwards and Guards now.
you guys shuld make a little trade with the wizards: magic get: arenas, etan thomas, future 1rst rd pick wizards get: francis, gooden lol..naw i doubt that but i think this trade makes both teams a better team. now rockets have a the best dynamic duo in my opinion since shaq n kobe split. and now you guys got rid of old howard and ty"i play one good game out of every 8" lue.(who shuld be a back up pg) now u guys have depth and experience. francis mobley howard gooden cato
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Einitials:</div><div class="quote_post">The magic are going to be in last place again this year or close to it.</div> Your crazy their going to have a better team than last year. Their in a weak division and will have more than just one player. Are defense should be way better and we even have more depth.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Einitials:</div><div class="quote_post">The magic are going to be in last place again this year or close to it.</div> Well anythings possible but I don't think this is. The Magic will probably be an average team this year and hopefully will be in the first round come playoffs times. With the additions Wiesbrod has made on this team i find it very hard for us to come in last or close to it. Well now that Francis is here in Orlando along with Mobley and Cato and Juwan's gone we actually can do something this season coming up.

Since the magic are going to be getting 5 to 6 new players, I believe this year's team will lack chemistry which eventually will be their downfall.

They have camp and preseason to work on it and I think after the first month they should be fine. They will make the playoffs IMO no doubt.

I look forward to watching this team though. You guys have a bright future. Good Luck Magic 2004-05, and good luck Tracy In Houston.

They added 8 new players and the whole year they couldn't establish any type of chemistry. That was the main reason why the magic became the worst team last year. What makes this different that you believe they will catch on quickly?
I doubt they will make the playoff, however i do believe they will be one the top team in league 3 to 4 or at least in the east.
They have more talent this year than they did last year. I know just talent alone isn't enough to win many games, but at the start of the year a lot of teams don't have the chemistry like you say, and the sheer talent alone on our squad will propell us to win more games than we did last year in the first 20 some games. And after that the chemistry will be there.
I am glad this trade is going to be be finnally finished.I think the Magic will improve though, they have more dept to their roster amd beter defensive players,I really dont see anyone as a great defender on this team though. But I am pretyy sure if they play team defense then they wont have to worry about it. This deal is finally gowing down because both of the superstar players are happy about the trade.
Magic not only add more talent but alot more heart, one thing Steve Francis can't be faulted on is his heart. That guy has alot of passion for the game and never have I seen a game where he isn't giving 100%. Thats something the Magic lacked last season. As a general NBA fan I fail to see how Orlando won't get at least a top 6 seed of course free-agency still needs to be resolved. You are adding a very good backcourt duo with Francis actually playing in a system he likes. Cato is a monster on defense who is normally successful guarding the big's in this league. Saying Orlando are going to finish last because of chemistry is straight up weak I must say. If the Magic were in the west It would be alot different but in the eastern conference who are already losing the Hornets I fail to see how they will do badly.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Einitials:</div><div class="quote_post">The magic are going to be in last place again this year or close to it.</div> Do you know ANYTHING about the NBA? I can't wait to trash all your ridiculous comments during the season. You're gonna tell me the Bobcats have a better line-up than the Magic? Or the Hawks? The Magic can EASILY be 2nd in this division. Are you even a Magic fan? Geez, if you're gonna be bitter about passing on Okafor all year than go root for the Bobcats. Go to their team forum. Garrity and Hill were hurt ALL last year. Just the addition of them will make us a better team. Come back here when actually know what you're talking about. :bonk:
i agree, get out of here. francis will DOMINATE running the magics fastbreak offense, and how can you say they will get last with this lineup? pg-francis, nelson sg-mobley?, someone sf-hill, howard pf-gooden, garrity c-cato, declerq that is a very good team in the east
The Magic will be a lot more balanced without T-Mac. I remember watching games last year, and the Magic would take the ball up the court, make one pass, and then shoot. I think the ball will be shared a lot more without T-Mac. We have good starters and a decent bench. I know we're getting new players like we did last year, but they're so much better than last year... Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Kelvin Cato, along with established rookie Jameer Nelson, and potential superstar Dwight Howard... Hopefully we can pick up a vet in the free agency as well... I could see the Magic finishing as high as 6th place in the East. Remember, New Orleans isn't in the East anymore. Gooden and Garriy will also get to play. Grant Hill might be coming back. How can anyone say we'll finish last place?!

I wonder why that didn't happen? Yes I am a Magic fan, however I am not a ridiculously optimistic fan like you seem to be. If you are relying on hill and garrity to make a contribution next year then I think you are the one who lacks total knowledge of the nba. Also don't worry, I will enjoy bashing your equally absurd comments when the season begins. :bigthumbu
