"It crushed me. It straight crushed me. I keep hearing they say I had a bad work ethic and missed practices. But if that's true, how can I do the things I do on the court? It just doesn't come naturally. You have to work at it. That really hurt me. "It drives me. I've been working out like crazy, and people are going to see the T-Mac of a couple years ago, who averaged 32, next season. That guy's coming out. I've never been so hungry and motivated." Full Story If he wasn't hungry and motivated the last couple seasons it's going to be scary this season!!
I doubt he wil be averaging 32ppg he is going to have to give some shots to Yao a lot now,but if Kobe resings with the Lakers and Shaq leaves then I see him maybe averaging around 30,unless someone like Dirk is on his team.
Highly doubt it.. The Rockets are going to go down hill if McGrady does what he did in Orlando.. Van Gundy has never had a player on his team average 20 PPG in a season.. I don't see this team getting very far in the playoffs unless McGrady plays as a TEAM player.. I guess we will just have to see.. Have to agree with Sportsrock... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"It drives me. The guy is motivated because he's on a team he thinks can bring him a ring. What I don't understand is why woesn't he motivated when we went on that 19-game losing streak and everyone was blaming Tracy, Why woesn't he motivated after bashing his teammates and everyone was getting on him about that. I can go on and on but I won't. This is very confusing for me?

But if Tracy McGrady doesn’t have his mindset, on playing a team oriented style basketball, it will just hurt Yao Ming development as well as the team. Before Jeff Van Gundy came to Houston Steve Francis was having a spectacular season. He was doing whatever he desired with the ball. But when Jeff van Gundy tried having him dominate the ball less, it somewhat threw Steve Francis game off, and he looked confused at times. This is why Steve Francis didn’t have a regular “Steve Francis”, type of season. And the whole dominating the ball thing is the reason I think he decided to join the Orlando Magic. He spoke with the Magic’s GM and was aware that they plan on building the team around him. So that means he’s basically going to be they’re franchise player (which I think isn’t a good idea), but that’s the role he’s going to be playing. And you know when you’re the franchise player; you get to do WHATEVER you want. After all Johnny Davis likes playing with the high-energy, up-tempo type of game, which should fit well with Francis. So Francis got his way. Then you have Tracy McGrady, a player similar to Steve Francis when it comes to dominating the ball. McGrady has been the head of the Orlando Magic for about 4 years now, and just did what ever he desired, so we can say that’s he’s pretty much accustomed to having the ball in his hands majority of the time. Now that Van Gundy is coaching, and he likes running things through Yao Ming and let him create for others. Tracy McGrady is going to be somewhat of a second-option on the team. I don’t how this will work or how it will affect him, but he’s going to have to adjust himself to it. If not, we will see something similar to a Steve Francis and Jeff Van Gundy soap opera. McGrady was eager to come to Houston, but I believe down the stretch when he’s no longer averaging 30 PPG as he’s expecting and is on the verge of letting that 3rd consecutive scoring title slip away in the hands of Allen Iverson/Kobe Bryant, he might have some regrets of coming to Houston, UNLESS if the Rockets somehow end up being championship contenders. Well like ZeroToOne50182 we're going to have to wait and see how things really turn out. I'm hoping things turn out well, I wouldn't mind seeing T-Mac with a ring.
Yep I don't think ti will work out great for Houston. I think they could seriously struggle! As for the magic, the idea of Them building the franchise around Francis, makes me physically sick!
I don't think they are going to build it around Francis I think this will be a very good TEAM but Francis might average the most ppg,and he is also a good vocal leader..so I guess if that's what defines a franchise player he will be one.
Great post Avery. We need more posts from you and less posts from Enitials. Van Gundy loves to slow down the tempo of the game. His plays is to out the clock till 14 seconds and then make a play. T-Mac possessions will go down dramatically this coming season. I can see him complaining by eary January. About his comments: THe guy is becoming a joke. To blame Weisbrod for this is a copout and typical T-Mac. Everthing is sombody else's fault except him. He never takes responsibilities. This is own doing. If he would've NEVER complained this would've never happened. He has nobody to blame but himself. I'm glad he's gone now. T-Mac has been sliding the "Superstar" pole since the 19-gm losing streak. I read a column(forgot from where) that he's becoming more like Dominique WIlkins than M.J. Which I'm starting to agree with. Good riddance! We can win without you T-Mac!! :beerchug:

But having the GM and coaching staff decide what players to surround you with to compliment your game, in order to bring the team to further height’s is what a franchise players is. And according to Stephen A. Smith that's what the Magic's GM plans on doing. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Good riddance! BTW look at the players they surrounded him with... Lue, Gaines, Bogans, Howard, and a young Drew Gooden. Let's be serious, Jason Kidd is a great leader, but I don't even think he would have too much success with that squad.

I really don't think T-Mac will ever be a leader. If you aren't one by now then most likely you won't be one then. He just doesn't have the same drive as players like Kobe and KG IMO. And good luck to him in the west. He now has to face the Kings, Wolves, Mavs, Lakers, Spurs, improving Nuggets & Grizz. He's gonnhave to prove come playoff time the type of player he really is.
I think we will be able to win without tmac. But also The rocket coach Van Gundy or whatever, gameplan is SHARE the ball so i dont really see Tmac scoring champion. If he doesnt go along with that gameplan, he may have some problems. But i think Tmac will share it with Yao.

" I don't get it.. Did he take two years off?" Which is exactly the reason I was so glad we could get rid of him and get at least Francis. I gotta hand it to McGrady for at least asking to be traded and not doing what Shaq did. Besides, if our lineup is going to contain Francis,Hill,Howard, and Nelson then this is one of the best ones we will have so far.
I wanted to see Tracy and Hill together, but oh well...I think T-Mac will do fine in Houstan, but to win a championship this year is not that realistic, the rockets will probably make the playoffs low seed and have an early round exit, unless mcgrady is willing to listen to van gundy like some of you guys are saying.. Tracy Mcgrady in the West..another All-star in the west..the All-star games will become very one sided, then again it was before too..
