    stated in the Detroit news

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dumars would like to add a back-up point guard and another versatile wing player. One player to keep an eye on is free agent and former Pistons forward Brian Cardinal. He had a break-out season last year with Golden State and still lives and trains in the Detroit area.

He is a favorite of both Dumars and Coach Larry Brown.

    free-agent article

I'm sure he will be on the Pistons list to sign this summer, of course Rasheed will be the guy Dumars will ring up first.

After the season he had in Golden State I would expect returning home and being on the world champions roster would give him enough reason to sign. Would be the prefect player to add to any roster.

How well did he play last year. I never heard a word about him playing well. What numbers did he put up for them ?

He averaged 9.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in only 21 minutes of play. Most of all he was a great energy guy, someone who would come off the bench and make a sudden impact by going after loose balls or hitting a few threes to lift the crowd.

Now Thats what Detroit basketball is all about.

    I don't like Cardinal, I don't think he fits with P's either.

Brian Cardinal is more than just the generic, stereotypical whit guy who stays in the league by hustle. Here's my take, as a huge Warriors fan...

-Cardinal is very versatile, and play both forward positions for us, and could like get good matchups over smaller guards

-Cardinal is an excellent defender, with good instincts for steals, drawing charges, etc...

-Cardinal is excellent at finishing shots after being fouled, as well as drawing fouls both driving to the hoop, and on the perimeter (on one occasion he caused Tim Duncan to get 2 quick fouls out near the three point line)

And, as if that weren't enough...

-Cardinal is an exemplary shooter, both for his size, and against anyone else in the NBA. He has very fine tuned shooting form, and can hit 3 point shots, mid-rangers, all while shooting aroun 85-90 percent from the line.

All part of the business, the idea is to get players who are actually good you know. Very simlar with Steve Nash and Phoenix.

The guy adds depth, I fail to see how he won't be needed. You need as much depth as possible.

As for the contract, he won't get a very big deal at all. I'm sure he knows that.

That would be AWESOME..To get him..He would give us more depth.More versatility..(What we need)..And last but not least..That "Warrior" mentality EVERY Night..That is one guy who plays with so much heart and hustle..If we got him..It would only make us an even hungrier team..The enery we would have would be amazing..I say try everything possible in our power to snatch him..He might be a piece that will help us next season!

I think he would help improve the play of Darko as well. Cardinal is a very physical player who may help Darko out. Maybe he'll actually have a chance against Cardinal rather than Ben Wallace or Rasheed Wallace at practise.
