<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Toronto Raptors hired former Atlanta Hawks general manager Pete Babcock on Wednesday to be their director of NBA player personnel. Babcock, the brother of new Raptors' general manager Rob Babcock, will focus on free agents and trades. Pete Babcock spent 13 years as the Hawks' GM before being fired last year. Atlanta made the playoffs in eight of his first nine full seasons, reaching 50 victories three times and winning the Central Division championship in 1994. But his teams never got past the second round of the playoffs, and he was criticized for failing to improve the team through the draft. Before coming to the Hawks in 1990, Pete Babcock was the general manager of the Denver Nuggets. During his six years, the team won two division championships and reached the Western Conference finals once. </div> <div align="center">Link</div>
i smell nepotism. in what capacity are embry and alex english involved in the organization? i think they are the token black dudes with nba cred.
I like that he's hiring guys that he knows, like i said before it's good for everyone on the team to be on the same page, and for him to hire qualified friends and family is good.

Since Alex won't be the director of player personnel anymore, hes heading to the bench and this is his replacement.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Raptors.com:</div><div class="quote_post">Alex English as director of player development/scout</div> I don't know if that is the same job as the director of player personnel but Alex English IS going to be an assistant coach under Sam Mitchell, possibly still retaining his job of director of scouting.
I already LOVE Rob Babcock. His draft pick is still questionable in my books, but I love how he is hiring people who have experience and great accomplishments. I'm glad he's not selecting people who have the "potential" with no experience and accomplishments. Wayne Embry drafted hall of fame players, and he built the 1971 Bucks Championship team. Alex English was a great player who's in the hall of fame, and now Pete Babcock. If he's hiring these great people, then the draft pick is probably a great player. The 2005 Toronto Raptors might be the best Raptor year in franchise history, all because of one man named Rob Babcock.
