<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN's David Aldridge reports that the Suns are prepared to offer Los Angeles Lakers free agent guard Kobe Bryant a six-year deal in excess of $100 million. According to a source, the Suns are expected to make the offer just after midnight ET, the first allowable time for free agents to be contacted. The source also told Aldridge that the Suns will try to meet with Bryant's representatives on Friday in Los Angeles. </div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1832381 So that's one year and $30M less than what the Lakers can offer. I know that's the most they can offer but I think that's too big of a difference for anyone to pass up. I really can't see Kobe going here unless he doesn't care about money AT ALL.
not surprised at all at the offer, but if kobe wants to prove himself without shaq its fine by me (even though he will probably be able to do it on the lakers) i pray he accepts this.
Everyone expected this offer like you said, and I'd actually like the trio of Amare, Marion and Kobe. However I'd hate to see him in a Phoenix jersey, I hate that look!! BTW jdub - the most points ever scored in by a rookie out of high school is LeBron James with 41.
Forget that trio, how about the quad of JJ, Kobe, Marion, Amare. If the deal goes through, the Suns are in the playoffs this season.
Actually I'm watching Sports Center on ESPN right now, and they said $100M over 6 years. I'm guessing he made a mistake and meant to say $80M, because from what I know the most they can offer is that. Anyone know which it is for sure? EDIT: nevermind, I guess it is a $100M offer. ESPN edited their article so I edited the post above.
I hope he does not accepted.. for one reason, The Houston Rockets would not win the west, They would have too good of a team and the rockets and lacking a decent PG..
I doubt Kobe will want this,he already said he wanted to be a Laker for life and the Lakers are going ot do anything to make him stay,so that means more mony for Kobe in LA.
Phoenix should just start making those offers to Nash because the Mavericks are already pampering him, get Nash instead, just not for too much, don't go giving him 10 million.
^exactly. Kobe is staying and the Lakers are willing to do almost anything to keep him. og15 has a point, they shouild start making offeres to Nash. and accroding to "The Score" they offered him 80 Million USD, so which one is it?
^ It's a $100 Million dollar offer over six years for Kobe. ESPN also originally said it was $80M but later corrected the article.
This is somewhat OT. If Kobe ultimately signs with them, which is still along way to be determine, what happens to JJ? I'm sure this has been asked many times. Do they trade him away for a C if they can't get Dampier?
"IF" ths deal would have gone through JJ would've run the point with Kobe at 2. But now we got Nash, so JJ will stay at SG, with a helluva backup for Nash in LB.
