<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Terry Stotts, who was fired after 1 1/2 seasons as coach of the Atlanta Hawks, was named an assistant for the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Stotts joins the staff of Mike Montgomery, who was hired to replace the fired Eric Musselman last month. He is the only current staff member with NBA coaching experience.

"The Warriors have made significant improvements over the last couple of seasons and I hope to be able to contribute to the team's continued success and improvement," Stotts said.

Stotts, 46, posted a 52-85 record with the Hawks, including a 28-54 mark last season. Prior to joining Atlanta in August 2002, he spent nine seasons as an assistant under George Karl - five in Seattle and four in Milwaukee. </div>

Thanks for the post. This is actually good since the new inexperiened, former college coach Mike Montgomery will need some NBA head coach insight and knowledge from his assistants.

There's a typo in that article. Stotts is the only coach on the Warriors roster with previous NBA HEAD coaching experience. Elie was an assistant coach with the Spurs.

Nice of you to point that out because I totally forgot about it.

I like Stotts, he never really got a fair shake in Atlanta with that whole sale and rebuilding mess. He's been an assistant with George Karl since Karl's CBA days, and has a similar style, which incorporates a fluid passing game and a strong transition offense. One marked difference, though, is his more laid back relaxed approach (at least compared to Karl's hyper in your face coaching.)
