<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The free agency period is open for business, and that means the Knicks have high expectations. Near the top of president of basketball operations Isiah Thomas' list is Bulls guard Jamal Crawford, who is a restricted free agent. "I see the Knicks as an option," agent Aaron Goodwin told the Bergen Record. It might be a situation where it may require participation from Chicago, but it's definitely an option. It's definitely a place that if it's not Chicago he'd love to be in." The Knicks would likely use their midlevel exception (an offer starting around $5.1 million) for Crawford, and the Bulls would have 15 days to match. Goodwin also alludes to a sign-and-trade option. Thomas is also expected to make offers to guard Kobe Bryant and forward Rasheed Wallace.</div> <div align="center">Link</div> With Allan Houston future being questionable, Crawford would be an excellent addition to the Knicks. He can score, and most importantly he's YOUNG.
I know Jamal Crawford is a talented young guard, but the Knicks are backlogged with inconsistent guards right now with the likes of Norris, Anderson etc. They need to get rid of some of those guards before bring on another guard who has had alot of ups & downs so far from a consistency level. The main focus of the Knicks this offseasn needs to be adding a productive bigman to the roster. The only Bigbdy on the Knicks roster that they can count on to be productve right now is kurt thomas. I mean even if Baker comes back to the Knicks, with all his off-cour ups & dons you really dont or cant kow whatto expect from him next season. Mike Sweetney really played well in the playoffs, last season. But this season will be his 1st season getting minute on a regular basis,it will be hs rookie year basically. So he will probably struggle with the consistency level from night to night. And Mohammad cant be expected to do much,Solid at best. And the rest of the bigbodies on the Knicks bench is a waste. So Isiah needs to put all his resources, trades,FA etc into cleaning up their frontcourt. Even if the Knicks dont make any backcourt changes thisoffseason it will still be solid imo. As long as Steph is healthy. And Frank Williams, I am expecting major things from him, if he gets the minutes. If anything the Knicks need to get a shooter to replace Houston, if his status is up in the air because thats the main thing they lack when he isnt in the lineup.
So the Knicks are willing to spend the MLE on Crawford but will also make offers for Sheed and Kobe? that is quite laughable.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Knicks Analyst:</div><div class="quote_post">They are very consistent. How does signing Crawford make sense? Answer: It doesn't. Where you gonna put him SG? Nope, you got 16 Million dollars there. Backup SG? Nope got 15 Million Dollars there. Backup PG? Well he can get more money elsewhere and get the starting job, so it would make no sense to acquire him. Crawford would be a good fit in Charlotte (anybody not pricey would), Toronto, Possibly Seattle; but they got Ridnour, or ATL. Knicks should look into signing Etan Thomas and D-Fish. Back up point and banger and rebounder down low. That's what they need. Plus they got Sweetney, they should use him, because he'll be productive.
Thomas has been slippin' lately, I think you should go for a more talented SG or C, preferably to replace the likes of Houston.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting banks3:</div><div class="quote_post">Knicks should look into signing Etan Thomas and D-Fish. The NY Daily News is today saying that Isiah is having preliminary talks with the Bulls about a sign and trade for Crawford. It'd mean they'd be taking Shandon Anderson (thank God!), but NY would be getting Eddie Robinson or Jerome Williams.
I don't know why they'd sign Crawford. They already have plenty of guards, granted they are all old, but, they don't need him. They should consider getting a new center or a better small forward cause Thomas played like crap when he came in. But, if they want to sign him, it's all up to them. Personally, I think he'll get a better offer from Chicago or someone else who really needs him or has the money to get him.
I hope they keep DerMarr Johnson and groom him to be the new SF. NY really needs a decent backup for Allan Houston though, Shandon Anderson sucks!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Nylex:</div><div class="quote_post">Shandon Anderson sucks!</div> Finallly someone that agrees with me!
Crawford might really be coming to the Knicks.<a href="http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap.php#1089046493" target="_blank">http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap.php#1089046493</a>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jmonty580:</div><div class="quote_post">We could get Crawford just to use him to get someobdy else right?</div> To use him. I read http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/209639p-180661c.html and Isiah said that Kobe might not be with the Knicks this season.
