Damn I wonder how they will do next year. He is the reason Dirk stayed here in the US. I hope this doesnt mean Dirk will request a trade the Phoenix.

If this all goes down, what will the team do? They'd have more money for Shaq, but need names to go with it (via trade). And what will they have left if they do acquire Shaq? If you don't keep the giant happy (wins and money) he'll pout and let his contract expire and move on. In theory, this is the biggest point for the franchise to decide what to do. Wrong choice, Finley's been there and seen that.

He was there qoute un qoute floor general. Also i think it will be interesting to see how well Dirk can do without his set up man. i dont think the mavericks were very intelligent in letting Nash go.
Exactly. I mean maybe they did this so Daniels can have a chance to shine, but who knows, Cuban might have something up his sleeve.
even with the mavs having more money to go after shaq doesn't help. nash going to phx is a step backwards for the mavs as a franchise and if your going backwards in the west, you're going to have a tough time. i think it would be bad for dallas to now go after shaq. you already lost a big part of the team and to get shaq dallas will have to give up dirk and other key players. and there is no point to get shaq when all your talent has left or been traded. bad move for dallas. it would've been better if they could've gotten some defenders or anything for nash,but just having him walk away hurts.
It is troubling because it is the first time we've lost a free agent. Even Evan Eschmeyer and Raef Lafrentz were resigned. Well, I guess Calvin Booth was a very minor loss. Are we seeing a crack in the Cuban relationship? I do think it was personal. Having said that, was it the right move not to match the offer? Probably so. Wouldn't that contract turn into another Finley contract? Let's get younger and more athletic.
i've got the perfect plan to keep nash. get some hitman to beat up nash and then tie him up and hide him somewhere in nigeria. no one will find him, and we'll force him to sign a contract w/ the mavs, and if he doesnt, we'll cut off his spring rolls. :mrgreen: this will be perfect, since it was only a verbal agreement GO DIRK GO
Man Nash was my favorite point guard. And Cuban is my favorite franchise owner. Why couldn't they just stay together?
