What we are looking for right now is a solid big man, right? With all the talk about Blount, and his coming to Philadelphia, we have to stop and think of other scenarios as well. No one is talking about the possibility of Eric Dampier coming in to be that guy. Right now, on the trade market all he is being listed as, is a throw in guy to lure Shaq to Dallas. The Warriors might be interested in doing this with us, since they have been known as a cheap franchise for a while now. So what I offer to Golden State is that they throw him in for a player we would love to get rid of, Glenn Robinson. His expiring contract is something we don't need, and Eric is looking for a pay raise. He currently is asking Golden State for eight million, what I propose is that we offer him 10-11 million over the course of 4-5 years. Billy has talked about getting a big man through the free agency or through trading, so this would be pretty good IMO. Also, let's face it, Eric is a much better player than Mark. Eric has played decent over his tenure in the NBA, as though Mark hasn't where he just gunned it until the first half of last season, and then finally started giving in, in the end.
The Sixers won't get Dampier as he has stated that he wants to go to Memphis in a sign-and-trade deal. Case closed
i would take Dampier in a heartbeat. altho, he was playing for a new contract, so he could be a bum after he gets signed to a new deal
I would sign Dampier over Blount but,I think Dampier wants money the Sixers dont have right now.He would be a very solid player though his season averages this year were 12ppg and 12rpg.
