this is going allong with whats so bad about keith horn whats so good about A.I.? Hes useless hes a ballhog, though i will give him propsfor 26.6 ppg but he had quite a few games where he scored nothing or next to nothing. to prove hes a ball hog shot 34% from the field 29% from three point land 75% ft. After u get by the 26.6 ppg ull notice the team didnt make the playoffs. SO STOP GIVING HIM CREDIT! hes not a verbal leader or emotonal. he is always in trouble running off his stupid half witted mouth or getting into legal problems with drugs and gun possesion. Not only does he not know how to play he doesnt know how to live not only is he horrible at basketball hes trash
he tries to be a bad boy then cries to the media that every one has him so wrong. A.I. SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! His ego is taller than himself! hes talking bout practice im talking about a retard

uhhhh... they even put the zone in the league to try and stop him.... I think.... from what I heard.... that's what's great about him.... WHAT!!!!

Nah, for real, you can talk all you want about not being a team player(averagin 6 dimes), and takin like 100 shots every game missin most of them or whatever... he just goes out there and gets punished every game... there's no denying that, he plays wit heart, this has been sad million times but it's not enough.

Oh, and he QUIT last season? Are you kiddin me, give the man a break... I like to see YOU try and continue season after season of playin through painful injuries he's had... seriously how many other players can take all of them yet play it through like Iverson did??

Allen Iverson is probably the most dominant personality in the league. In the last five seasons no player has had more cloudt w/in an organization as he has. I don't think that he is worth the trouble. Even though at times he can be the most unstoppable player in the league he really doesn't go all out all of the time (like his reputation indicates).

For someone who is praised for being so tough, why is he constantly complaining of nagging injuries and being placed on the injured list. If he were so tough we wouldn't know how hurt he was. Philadelphia has bent over backwards to accomodate A.I. and outside of the 2000-2001 season, the payoff hasn't exceeded the cost.

I think that now would be the best time to move A.I. b/c I'm not sure that he has too many more years of superstar basketball left in him. He would probably get you a great young talent or a bunch of good players/draft picks.

A.I. Has been one of the best PGs in the eague over the last severa years. Leading the league in scoring several times, has been the MVP, has accomplished much more. A.I. has been the most dominant persionality as Iron said. He's on the downside of his career now, but he used to be a very dominant player in league, often blowing up with 50 point games. I don't know what Iverson DOESNT deserve credit for, hes been a warrior of a player for several years , despite legal problems and injuries. And I ask you, how did he become an MVP by being a ball-hog? You reaLLY dont know what your talking about here so lay of him.

AI, i love the guy. But you've gotta realize that he isn't that good of a player. He'll get you points and some steals, but he's not worth an entire team suffering for his ego. He shoots too much, doesn't play good D (and D isn't just getting steals folks). I'm not saying he's was nevera good player, but what made him good is also his downfall. He relies too much on talent and refuses to listen to anyone, even Larry Brown. He feels that everything is owed to him, he's gonna have to shape up or ship out. Most fans here in philly can't wait to get rid of him

This is the same AI that said he wasn't going to play if he didn't start and has skipped practices, that's quitting on your team. Iverson fights through injuries but so do other players, he's not the only guy who gets beat up.

Yeah, yeah , lots of player have their bad sides, but I don't see why you'd choose Iverson to attack like that. Hes always been an excelent player, and all your doing as taking things and making them look really negative.

Iverson for all his faults is probably one of the best small guards of all time.. When healthy, he's one of a few players in the league who can completely destroy teams singlehandedly.. Defensively he's small but not a liability at all thanks to his quick hands & effort.. Offensively he will always find ways to score.

Every player has had bad games; AI has his share for sure.. He's a guy who needs lots of shots to put up lots of points. But he's a player you can watch night-in and night-out and not wonder if he's trying his hardest. Can you say the same about Kobe or T-Mac? Didn't think so. That makes him the kind of player that one would like to describe the NBA with..

He has off-court issues, that's true. But people really care too much about that stuff. It doesn't matter what he says in the press conferences, or to the papers, or in interviews on TV or whatever. When the guy plays, he plays hard and he plays well. Anyone who watches the 6ers regularly can attest that AI does get knocked around a lot, and he just keeps on coming. He started complaining last season, but only because so many people began to doubt him (in the media)..

All that being said, it's still likely that Iverson is already past his prime. He may never become the power scorer he was again, but if he manages to stay healthy he'll still be one of the most fun players to watch. To me that's just as important as the stats or wins [IMG]

Alright you guys... your talkin' about him being on the IL all the time huh? let's see, he's 6 foot NOTHING. Plays the 2 guard spot. Isn't afraid of going to the hole and getting elbows, battered and bruised all that kind of stuff. Is a warrior, huge heart on the court, hustles for every ball... just cause Philly is losing, everyone thinks A.I sucks.
Did you see his playoff performance in 00-01, can i get a pretty much 35 ppg. Isn't that good of a player huh? Just gonna get SOME points and SOME steals and maybe SOME dimes. 27 ppg? 29 ppg? Leading the league in steals? 6 apg?

Your talking about him bringing down the whole team... he didn't really HAVE a team before. It was A.I vs 5 people pretty much. He carried the team on his shoulders.
You say he can't play D? I'd like to see any of you guys defend a guy who's about 7 inches taller than you, since A.I has to guard the 2 guards of every team.

I'll get back to guys when i get more time. Peace

The guy is 6 foot nothing and led his team to a Eastern Conference Championship with not much help.

When I think of tough little guards A.I. is not the first person that comes to mind. John Stockton and Isiah Thomas in my mind were more competitive than A.I.

Iverson is definitely one of the toughest minded players in the league, considering the fact that he is willing to go after his game no matter who he plays. I have yet to see him back down offensively or get rattled when his shots aren't falling. It's the other things that rub me the wrong way about him.

    - His constant bickering w/ officials (I've seen him countless times not get back defensively b/c he felt he was fouled on the other end).
    - His lapses defensively (Eric Snow may be the only point guard in the league who has to guard every teams best perimeter player).
    - His inability to accept criticism
    - The fact that he has to have the last word and that he questions the loyalty of all of those who do criticize him.
    - The fact that he wants to be involved in all decisions concerning the Sixers when he is least accessible player on the team (wanting to do the job of GM w/o actually having to do the job)

Allen Iverson is a great player but I don't think that he is a great leader. Jim O'Brien is an excellent coach who I don't think will back down from Iverson. Hopefully this match will resurrect Iverson's career.

Just cause he has a big ego doesn't make him a bad player. Sure he speaks his mind about almost everything, but waht's he gonna do, change his persona for the public?? Naw, I don't think so, he's not that type of guy. Just accept who and what he is. That's what he's like.

I don't think AI is all that great. I'll give him credit in that he's an ironman and plays through a lot of pain, granted it looks like that came back to hurt him last year though. Otherwise, I don't think he's all that great. He's a great scorer, but, for every 30 points he gets, he needs like, oh, 40 shots to get there. He plays shooting guard and is way too small to do that. The only thing he can do defensively is steal the ball cause he's too small to do much of anything else. He's a terrible outside shooter. Almost all his points come from slashing because of his quickness and the fact he can't make jumpers. That's why I'm not all high on him. Also, he is a ballhog, and that's why the 76ers suck.

True, everyone cares too much about player's off-court issues. They shouldn't, it's not their business and it doesnt affect what kind of player they are.

Iverson has accomplished a ot for being a small guy with little help. Ok, sure, he's not Isiah Thomas but he is on the same level as Stockton. He is easily one of the best small guards ever and has continued to be through injury and negativity, and criticism. Some people dont take criticsm well, especially when it's very negative like the kind directed at Iverson most of the time. Iverson has been pounded over the years by the media. They have intruded on his personal life, his legal issues and his personal team issues. I would be frustrated if I was in his situation, and I don't blame him for anything hes done. Iverson has been framed as a bad guy, but hes a good guy and should get al the respect he deserves.

The only reason this thread was created is because, as everyone knows, Phili fans, no matter what sport, are bad fans and are impossible to please. Basically, these Sixers fans need to quit whining, your whining way to much if your attacking one of your players that is one of the best in the league.

Ok, thats ridiculous and innacurate. Iverson was a great outside shooter in his day. That was a side job to being able to drive to the post as a very small person. The 76ers dont suck due to Iverson, in fact he has nothing to do with it, and anyone who think otherwise doesn't know their facts. I don't know what the hell him being a ball-hog came from, but thats wrong too. I mean how is he? I think all of you people have wtched Iverson play only tis last season.

    Look at this:
Feb. 19, 2004, vs. Seattle scored 40 points game for the 50th time
Named an Eastern Conference All-Star starter in 2004 for the 5th year in a row (2000-04)
10th fastest player to reach 14,000 points on Jan. 23, 2004
Averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists per game helping USA Basketball Men's Senior National team qualify for the 2004 Olympics
Named the 2000-01 NBA Most Valuable Player, leading the league in scoring (31.1 ppg) and steals (2.51 spg)
Most Valuable Player of the 2001 All-Star Game
    Three times selected All-NBA Second Team (2000, 2002, 2003)
Two time first team All-NBA Team (1999, 2001)
Named the 1996-97 Schick NBA Rookie of the Year, becoming the first 76ers player to ever win the award
Set the Sixers all-time rookie record with 1,787 points
Scored 40 points in five straight games in April 1997 to set an NBA rookie record
Named MVP of the Schick Rookie Game during the 1997 NBA All-Star Weekend, posting 19 points and a game-high 9 assists
Named NBA Rookie of the Month for November, 1997, leading all rookies in scoring (21.8 ppg), assists (6.4 apg) and steals (2.67 spg)

Iverson's career is ripe with accomplishments. He has the second best awards of all, league MVP and AS MVP. The only thing he doesnt have is a championship. And I hope he gets one. He deserves one. He deserves one so much more than someone like Kobe. SO much more.

Yea, Philly fans do suck. Prime example, 1999, Dallas vs. Phili. Michael Irvin gets his career ending neck injury and the pricks in Phili cheer. That's sick in my opinion. But, ok, Iverson not having help is false. This year he had Glenn Robinson at certain points in time. He had Kenny Thomas, good player. Snow, good player. McKie, great 6th man for any team. Dalembert is a good player who is still coming into his own. Iverson has a lot of help, he just chooses not to utilize it. And another thought, Iverson is a complainer, that's another thing I don't like. He refused to come off the bench that one game. I don't remember what it was all about but, I do remember him complaining about it. But, to say he has no help, that's false. He has help and other players around him, he just chooses to not utilize it. And, to talk about legal issues and the press, how do you think Kobe feels. His case is all over the media and you don't see him complaining. So, yea, to say his life is intruded on is nothing if you want to talk in the context of legal issues because Kobe's has been far more publicized than anything Iverson has ever done.
