Sasha Vujacic: "L.A. is where I wanted to go" I found an interview that Sasha had taken part of courtesy of Hoopshype.com: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How would you describe your experience in New York in draft night? Sasha Vujacic: It was something incredible. Really incredible. It was an unforgettable experience in my life. I was a little bit bit nervous, to tell you the truth. I knew I had the chance to go a little earlier... Maybe No. 20 or something like that. But it was still great. I couldn't possibly have ended in a better place. The Lakers are a really serious team. There was not a better place to start in the NBA. They are a great team, a championship team. Were you afraid that you might not be taken in the first round? SV: Not really. I already knew it before that the Lakers would take me if I was available. I thought I may have the possibility to go earlier, but to tell you the truth this is where I wanted to go. This is a great team.</div> Full Interview
Good to see he landed where he wanted. Hopefully he will surprise me to more than I think he is. You guys think since the Lakers squad/core is leaving/disbanding Sasha will get a chance to start at PG???? Fish is a free agent so is GP there left with no point gaurds.
Yeah, I am very happy to be in Los Angeles, it will be a nice place for me. Not everyday you hear of a guy named Sasha that shares the same name.

Even if Fisher leaves I think we'll pick up another PG pretty fast, so I don't think we'll see him start any time soon. I like him a lot though, I hope he has a good career with the Lakers.
Good to see he wants to play for the Lakers. That you'd think, would make him play harder since he is where he wanted to be. Hopefully that is true. But, yea, we do have Payton still. I'd have rather had DFish personally, but, Payton will have to do I guess.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ace-:</div><div class="quote_post">Sashas a scrub Doesnt matter I highly doubt he will become a decent role player</div> With these foreigners, you never know. I'm not saying he will become anything special because I don't know anything about him, but there are always some surprises. Manu Ginobili was drafted 57th in the 1999 draft and didn't even play until the 2002 season, but look at where he is now. Like I said, you just never know.
I for one would never believe the scouting reports that are written about foreign players especially because for one they are taking the NBA by storm, and two reports don't determine the type of player they're capable of being. All scouting reports do to a player is motivate them even more to be the best, and with Sasha Vujacic being a shooting guard for this mediocre bench, I believe he can be a huge asset to the team's future. If we could get the updated roster for the Laker summer league team, I'd be one curious fan to see his outside jumpshot, and his passing ability. I think those are the two basic traits that you need to be a decent guard in this league. What does everybody think of this picture?? Not bad....but he could've put it on for a change.
With this whole shakeup with the Lakers roster, Sasha needs to prove himself over the summer in the Lakers summer league to show he's ready and if he does that, then he could be getting some very quality minutes. Personally, I'd like to see him have a good summer and put up some good numbers and be able to get some good minutes next season. Maybe if Rudy T becomes coach, he might like something in this kid and think he's a good guard and give him some playing time.
Sasha seems like he could be a steal of the draft. We gotta steal last year in Walton and I would love to see Sasha do the same. He has great court vision(as I hear) and he could be a decent role player off the bench. I like the comparison to Ginobli somebody made. I think this could happen. If Rudy T(hopefully hell be our coach) gives him enough minutes he could do well.
