I'm hearing that Foyle has agreed to a 5 year deal with GS, I don't have a source yet, but I'll find one soon...

I'm glad, foyle is pretty underrated in a lot of ways. I remember the year before last year, fans wanted Foyle to start.
Well Foyle will definately get his chance to prove that he is a legit center in this league as he will have to carry a lot of the load.
On his website he considers himself a "hidden offensive talent". http://www.adonalfoyle.com/ESSAY_5-15-04.shtml Well hopefully it won't stay hidden for the next 5 years with Damp out of the way.
Adonal actually has a solid jumper. When teams lean off of him, and I've seen him drill a ton of mid-range jumpers and even a few from circle. And no one can forget that time that he took it to the hole against Ervin Johnson last year. Maybe they'll convert him to a 2? But really, he's worked every year with Pete Newell and although his footwork could use a bit more pizazz, his inside game isn't too bad. He knocks down open jumpers and isn't afraid to take them either, but doesn't force it. I can see at least 9-10 ppg with good minutes.
He showed a lot more of an offensive game this past year. He'll never have good hands, but that mostly just shows up when he tries to finish on the break. But he's really shown some nice moves in the post this past year (he just needs to learn Damp's drop-step move).
I heard the terms were 5 years for $40m. That is $8m per year. That is what Damp was making. I heard it on ESPN news on Sirius radio. I may be off, but I think I heard that and thought to myself, I am glad Foyle is back but that is way too much. I hope they just matched another teams offer. I do not know if Foyle is all that great on offense, but I have seen some nice hard dunks from him driving the lane.

At 6-7 million a year, I think Foyle will be a bargain. I meant its only about a million or two over the MLE.
That is the best news i heard, Foyle might not be an offensive juggernaut but, man can he play defense. By having Foyle stay it will make Biedrens transition that much easier.

Hey that's cheap for a big man. And big men that are at least fairly coordinated are by no means cheap since they're so rare. I mean look at Yao and Shaq. Those two are just freaks of nature. There's no way those two should be that quick at that size, especially Shaq. And although Foyle may not have the scoring touch, that guy can cover a lot of paint given his height and weight.
BTW, I think signing Foyle was the right thing to do. We needed a center who can bring a lot of positives to the team. We already know his game and his teammates know him. Plus, Foyle has been a loyal warrior, positive team player, and good citizen to the community. It sets a good example of a player that wants to stay and wasn't asking for too much and the possibility that all our draftees could be a warrior for as long as they wanted just so long as they don't overdo it like Dampier because of his breakout season in his contract year. All Foyle wanted was something that guaranteed he'd be in the league for at least 5 more years.
I like the signing of Foyle over Damp too because you just could not convince yourself that Damp was going to play his hardest for the rest of his contract. You know Foyle will. And with Damp, you know that is the best he will play. He will not get too much better. With Foyle, he could have a break out year this season and be even better than Damp. Can someone make me a sig or avatar with my new favorite Warrior, ADONAL FOYLE!
Now my question is this...Is Adonal worth this much? My vote says if the first year is only $6.5m, then yes. We will see how he does from here on out. As long as he keeps playing hard and improving his game, I am all for his big payday.
I can see why the Warriors offered such a hefty sum to Adonal, considering the major lack of tested big men. The contract isn't too bad, it's comparable to the Jerome James or Calvin Booth's contracts. Hmm... maybe those are bad comparisons to make. It's also similar to the contracts given to Rasho Nesterovic and Theo Ratliff. The contract is paying him to play starting C minutes and he might not have a ton of production, but he does have a great defensive presence. Even if he plays like a Ratliff-light (well, not light - he's got 30-40 lbs on Theo) I think that the contract will be deserved. (Ratliff's averages: 30 minutes, 9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks per game.) My concerns are mostly with his injuries and minutes, but hopefully it won't be a problem, even Dampier came back from his injuries and managed to have a good season.
