Thank God, Rudy T is a much better coach. Good news indeed.

Who's surprised? Coach K is Duke University. And why would he leave all of that behind with himself being at Duke for 24 years and with his name engraved there? It would absolutely make no sense at all. Coach K built Duke from the ground up, and he wants to finish what he started, I have no problem with that. But now we have a major problem. SInce Kobe made it clear that he wanted Coach K to be his head coach, and our Lakers failed to lure him to LA, I'm anxious now that the Clippers will be yet an even bigger threat to land Kobe on their team.

Our last option is Rudy T, and there's nobody else out there that can compete.

Didn't I see a thread like this somewhere in here earlier? Anyways, I'm not surprised. He's far too loved at Duke to leave. It's like Emo said, he is Duke. If he leaves, Duke isn't Duke anymore, they're just another school I think. Plus, I think Rudy T is the right fit for the job anyways. Under the assumption, and it is a pretty insane one to some people, but, say both Shaq and Kobe return next year, Rudy T is the best option because he's used to dealing with large egos and shouldn't have too many problems with them assuming they both come back.

Wheww, I was a bit worried. Good job coach K, I don't see a college coach ever being successful coaching in the nba anytime soon.

Didn't Larry Brown coach in the NCAA? [IMG] I guess Rudy T would be the obvious frontrunner.

Good decision by Coach K. He's a God in Duke. He doesn't need the drama in LA. He's a dynasty in the NCAA. He should be remembered by that and not like the other "successful college coaches who failed in the NBA" stories.

Larry Brown's style is NBA style anyway.

does that really matter? he is still the only coach with an NCAA and NBA title.

and Larry Browns "style" is defense, not "NBA".

as far as coach K goes, im happy to hear he turned them down. He would not have had too much success there and as the guy that was filling in for the brick said yesterday
"now he can go to prospective recruits and tell them that he would rather coach them than the Lakers. Basicly that means that Duke will be able to get most of the top talent for the next few years"

No surprise here. The only reason it was even mentioned in the media was because the Lakers were trying to put pressure on Coach K to consider leaving Duke. They threw $8M per year at him and also 5% ownership of the franchise. A lucractive offer, but still Coach K wasn't even tempted to leave Duke. Apparently, the Kobe and Coach K connection was also overexaggerated. Kobe only mentioned he would like to have Coach K as PJ's replacement, but there was no ultimatum for the Lakers to get him. Despite Coach K being one of my favorite coaches, I'm glad to see him stay at Duke, and I think Rudy T is a better choice for the Lakers this year.
