<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Marques Green has been hearing about his height ever since he began playing basketball on the streets of Norristown as a youngster. The diminutive point guard has a huge task in making the 76ers, but he won't stop dreaming big. After a spectacular career at St. Bonaventure, the 2000 Norristown High graduate is trying to make the NBA the hard way - as an undrafted rookie free agent. By all accounts, Green has performed well for the Sixers during their four-day rookie camp that concluded yesterday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During the one hour that the team's scrimmage was open to reporters, Green looked like the most productive player on the court. Green and his Sixers teammates of rookies, free agents and selected veterans begin competition tonight in the five-day Minnesota Summer League. He has shown tremendous quickness, boundless energy, and a deadly perimeter game. If only he had a few more inches to spare. Green is listed at 5-foot-7 and that account seems generous. He knows making the NBA will be a tall order, but he isn't about to make any excuses about his height. "This is what I have had to deal with all my life," he said. "I wasn't tall or strong, so I had to use my quickness and smarts." He has plenty of both. No less of an expert than Allen Iverson was impressed with Green's quickness. Iverson was a surprise participant in the rookie camp on Sunday and was often paired against Green. "He's fast and he can shoot the ball real well," Iverson said about Green. "He tries to play a game under control." Iverson said Green has the hunger to keep improving. "As long as he plays and gets as much guidance as he can, he can't do anything but get better and better."</div> <div align="center">Full Story</div> I'm not very familiar with this individual, but he is very undersized. But like all undersized players, they usually have an advantage and that quickness. According to Iverson, this guy is like speedy Gonzales out there. But despite his disadvantage he is determined to make the squad. Looks like we may have a mini Speedy Claxton on our hands. I’m curious to see how he play’s.
Sounds good, shorter players usally bring a lot of energy to games and we could never go wrong with that,I say give him a shot he has probally been over looked his hole life when it comes to basket ball.
he's good. I saw i=him play a couple times on CSN channels 8 & 9. He's a quick player who can hit the outside shot very well. I like him but would prefer to keep Barley over him if it came down to choosing another guard to carry on the roster. This guy has Earl Boykins witten all over his game, solid in every aspect of offense and defense
Yeah, pretty nice for a little guy But yeah I seen him play, I think he has a good chance, always nice to have a decent PG.
I'm very familiar with Green. I've been hearing about him since he was in Norristown [his high school.. about 15 minutes from mine] because our moms work together. Supposedly, scouts have said that his tremendous work ethic may land him in the NBA despite his size. As for the Earl Boykins comparison.. not quite. Marques Green certainly deserves his props.. but I'd be very surprised if his all his hard work resulted in a contract.
