i have seen it on many message boards and many draft profiles. they say he can be selfish, but averaged 9 assists. i dont care at what level u playin at, when u r playin with bball players with the same skill level as you, thats a lot of assists. Some say he can't shoot, but i have seen scouting reports say that he has nba range and can shoot the lights out. they say he is small, that he will get outmatched on the defensive end, but this isn't one on one nba basketball, theres team defense. if you are getting posted up, someone will help u out. look at the greats like Nate Tiny Archibald, Allen Iverson, the ones that are smaller than their opponents. so whats with this telfair hate. is it that he has been covered by the media so much that ppl want to knock him down? tell me your oppinion of this Telfair hate
he's my favorite player but the reason people hate him is because he isn't ready for the NBA yet and he might be overrated. there was this one other player (i think it was like ricky martin or something) and he played just as well as bassy did but didnt get any recognition for it
You can't say he isnt ready if he never played an nba game. did you think amare stoudemire, yao ming, or carlos boozer were ready? Kevin Garnett? TMAC? what about darko milicic, Nikoloz Tskitishvilli, or mikael pietrus
Well I think its because he is a New York City point guard. People feel that the media tends to over-hype & overate point guards when they are from NYC. I will give them that alot of NYC pg's dont end up living to the hype most recently a guy like Omar Cook comes to mind. Or go back a little further to a guy like Kenny Anderson, who built a solid NBA career but people had him on the future Nate Archibald level of NYC guard, when KA was coming out of Achbishop. So I can understand why people say that NYC guards tend to get to much meda hype. But if you look at some of the point guards that have come from NYC like Mark Jackson, Nate Archibald, Bob Cousy etc. Its only right that when NY has a top prospect at the point guard position is going to get a little more media attention then every other pg. Darius Washington's father said in the Daily News after the draft, that Telfair is cleary overatted because he is a New York City point guard. So I mean you have to take some people comments for what its worth. As a New York City Point guard who expected o do big things, Sebastian is going to catch alot of backlash untril he proves his critics wrong. It also didnt help that he got drafted in front of a proven senior pg in Jamieer Nelson ad the Media really made a big deal about on draft night. That just added to the backlash but Telfiar can just use this all as motivation to make him a bettter player in the future.
Well a lot of people start talking about him when the Nelson going so low topic is coming up,people will be like,Portland skipped Jameer and took a sigh school kid who isnt ready,or who cant shoot,or is selfish most people want to think these things of Telfair because he will be having high expectations espically since he was picked ahead of the NCAA player of the year. I havn't seen much of Telfair but from what I've seen of him he seems like a good and quick descion maker,he isnt a person with a really solid J,but he is a streaky shooter. He is a small player so I would think he would have trouble with on the ball defending, espically against NBA PG's
telfair could eventually be a great player but him ahead of jameer nelson HAHAHA wat a joke nelson could demolish telfair nelson is a better shooter he is quicker he is smarter if telfair lived in tennesee there would be no hype look at a player like shaun livingston he lives in peoria illonis and all the hype he earned but since telfair lives in the projects and his cousin is marbury he gets all the attention telfair has proved nothin to me i hope he comes into the league and shuts my mouth but honestly he has alot to show if he is gonna be drafted ahead of the national consesnuse player of the year jameer nelson cause what u see with jameer nelson is what you kno ur about to get.

And hey! I don't think you should compare Bassy to Ivy and Bald.
I think that it's probably because people don't think he's NBA ready. But, we shall see. The thing that makes me think he's something special is the way Maurice Cheeks fell in love with him. There must be something about him that Chekes wanted to draft him so bad.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Duece~2:</div><div class="quote_post">And hey! I don't think you should compare Bassy to Ivy and Bald.</div> i wasnt comparin them as skill wise, just the size and how they managed to still do great in the L

I think he's going to be a phenomenal player in a couple years. Give him time to develop and get comfortable with the NBA and he could be something special. This kid has got insane passing abilities and he can shoot from what I've seen. But, only time will tell if his abilties carry over from high school to the NBA.
